I think we are all aware of what Irvin did.

But the comment, "can I tell you who I am," says a great deal of the immortality he felt before that evening in a hotel room with two self-employed models, a sack full of drugs and sexual devices.

People don't begin their bad behavior at the apex. They slide down the slippery slope and with each step down it gets easier.

But during the years when they were winning championships, Irvin was a respected and focal point on this team. His actions on the practice field and after practice gained him a noteriety with the team that gave his words weight.

When Irvin challenged the team to work harder, they tried to meet his commitment. That led to Lombardis.

What transpired after he fell to the depths of his addiction to fame, power and cravings is tragic.

But that doesn't detract from what he did when the team was at it best. And what he meant to the team in getting there.

We all have skid marks in our shorts. It's just that all of us here don't live in a fish bowl.

There are many who claim they could resist the sex and drugs that went along with the winning back then. But how many of us truly have this type of life that those things are coming at us from everywhere everyday?

And the soil the star idea is ignoring the feet of clay that ALL celebrities have.

I guess your moral is that winning is everything....

Sorry but I'm not buying that. The 2007 team was healthy and really clicking. We won 13 games that year which is very significant. It wasn't his fault we lost to Seattle.

There is the at-work player that leads and the after-hours player that parties.

Same player, but his leadership on the field inspired others. His leadership after-hours also did that. But not enough to ruin the team at first. And at first was when they were winning championships. And maybe his psyche after all that success led him to the fall. When he dragged everyone down with him.

That is the moral of this story.

But please don't think Irvin was the sole person responsible for the team's demise. Because if you are arguing that others on this team were just as responsible for the winning, then how can you then place all the blame on him when they lost respect as a team?

I'm not talking about "arrests", I'm talking about winning SuperBowls! I'm taling about being a "team leader" not someone that that only "loves me some me"!

Therein is the difference...iMouth has done nothing wiith three teams so far...Irvin did it with one team. And...he did it while he was in his prime..."i love me some me" has not done anything as of yet.
