Both Owens and and Irvin are
-Celebratory
-Vocal
-Self-Promoting
-Camera Loving
-Can get themselves in trouble

The difference is that Irvin helped build up his team and Owens tears his apart. All the difference in the world.

Michael can also admit he's wrong, show remorse and mend his ways. That is HUGE. T.O. never ever ever does that.

I base things on his time here. The rest is spilt milk. Who cares what he did in Philly, heck I appreciate what he did there.

But he has done nothing here like that. The whole team said so when they voted him captain, didn't they?

The rest is "spilt" milk, huh? Yet here you are dogging the hell out of Irvin? A man that has changed his ways?

But, T.O., Captain or not, is doing the exact things he's done in the past...he does not learn.

By the way, since you are relatively new here, I was one of his biggest supporters when he got here because I thought the fool would finally change!

Boy, how stupid do I look now? He made a fool out of me, but I guess some people just don't get how he is, or those same people are really slow!

Some of that is true but let me ask all the posters reading here :

If you had to pick- Would you want your son to emulate the life of TO or the life of Irvin?

Lost me there.

Maybe you can get your mommy to help write out your thoughts.

That's not a revelation...

And your little dig at my deceased mom is rather, shall I say, really childish?

Stand by that, big boy!

You're right.

That's huge.

We live in a very forgiving society. The humility that Irvin shows when admitting his mistakes is a big deal.

I never dogged Irvin...LOL

I pointed out he brought more shame to the team than any other player, do you disagree with that? Do you actually read posts or just rant?

Irvin...next dumb question? Irvin is a man that has changes his ways and is a HOF'er while iMouth has done nothing to date except run his mouth and drop too many footballs.

Dead, also. Why do you want to bring my family into this? You losing ground or what? Your responses are typical of someone that has no response.

By the way, I never once discounted what Irvin brought to the team.

I simply said he brought more shame to this team than every other player combined. I'll stand by that.

Then you need to go back over the history of this team and re-evaluate your answer. Off the top of my head:

-Bob Hayes and his drug addiction and arrest for selling drugs to an undercover officer.
-The whole Duane Thomas fiasco
-Erik Williams trashing his car and carreer
-Dwayne Goodrich killing two good samaritans
-Tuinei overdosing on heroin
-Nate Newton getting arrested not once, but twice for possession and distribution of weed.
-Our HC getting arrested at the airport with a gun
-Packman getting his *** kicked in a bathroom by his bodyguard
-Spencer's DUI

And you can add TO to the list as well. While his conduct is not criminal, they have brought embarrassment and shame to this team that was on the cusp of doing some good things. The bicycle outfit during TC, his accidental OD, his throwing his team mates and OC under the bus, the Todd Haley incident, his lack of respect for his HC and so one and so forth. He brought his circus from SF, to Philly and now Dallas. It's the same old tired song and it's disgraceful the negative publicity he brings to this franchise.

You can be a fan of TO's and many may disagree with you. But to even compare TO to Irvin in terms of what they contributed to their team is not even worth discussing. Anyone with any brain cells left would take Irvin hands down.

That's kind of a silly question isn't it? But ultimately I'd say 100 times over---10,000 times over....I'd rather my son be like Michael.

I think ultimately Michael is a man capable of true love for his fellow men. True contribution. Yes he's also capable of murder (almost did it). Yes he's capable of being an addict (almost was).

I'd rather have Michael with all his issues (and strengths!) as a son than a complete narcissist who loves no one.

So you would have your son out cheating on his wife and kids, doing drugs, delivering drugs, running with hookers, receiving death threats but you don't want him talking and dropping passes...

No you don't get it.

Most all of the things mentioned before Irvin were isolated incidents that did not reflect on the team. The ones that Irvin committed and that were committed during his time here were all reflected on this team. Because of him, they were all placed on the team as an organizational problem. All of them. The man who started the white house got all the pub and he was the guy.

You would have your son do those things as long as he changed later? How about never doing them? Doesn't that sound good?

Learning how to grow up and overcome adversity makes people stronger in the end. If you go through life never having problems or experiencing bad times, then you don't grow.

Everybody does it...you will too, someday, maybe?

I think we are all aware of what Irvin did.

But the comment, "can I tell you who I am," says a great deal of the immortality he felt before that evening in a hotel room with two self-employed models, a sack full of drugs and sexual devices.

People don't begin their bad behavior at the apex. They slide down the slippery slope and with each step down it gets easier.

But during the years when they were winning championships, Irvin was a respected and focal point on this team. His actions on the practice field and after practice gained him a noteriety with the team that gave his words weight.

When Irvin challenged the team to work harder, they tried to meet his commitment. That led to Lombardis.

What transpired after he fell to the depths of his addiction to fame, power and cravings is tragic.

But that doesn't detract from what he did when the team was at it best. And what he meant to the team in getting there.

We all have skid marks in our shorts. It's just that all of us here don't live in a fish bowl.

There are many who claim they could resist the sex and drugs that went along with the winning back then. But how many of us truly have this type of life that those things are coming at us from everywhere everyday?

And the soil the star idea is ignoring the feet of clay that ALL celebrities have.

Every incident committed by a player or former player can reflect negatively on the team and the franchise.
