In microcosm, this incident illustrates the importance of free independent media. We need people asking the hard questions without fearing for their jobs and careers. The Jerry Jones of the world think they are above criticism and question. He's not just an old fool. He knows exactly the message he's sending when he makes these kinds of threats. He's ruined people before and he will to do it again. The NFL and national media should be destroying him right now.........but most fear retaliation. Jerry knows people in high places.
Yep. It’s amazing we actually have many who want to shun this country’s greatest freedom and right to shun the criticism. They call their adversaries and opponents the greatest enemy and evil.

This is what our owners actions remind me of with his narcissistic and fascist behavior. And his “ only he can do it or fix it” echoes it.

I don't care what Jerry says anymore. He is clearly losing his faculties. Nothing he says makes sense.

He is following in the footsteps of Al Davis.

Be ready folks…a disaster against SF might be the straw that breaks his back and we might see him go full on luny

As much as I want to see the cowboys turn this year around and win, it might be best long term to see them get massively destroyed and Jerry finally just completely lose it

Seems to me that if he is paying their salaries then he has every right to tell them how high they need to jump!
He does no such thing. He's not their boss, he's their guest and he doesn't own the show, the station, or pay them anything.

True but he’s the star of the show. And if the Fan wants him to continue then he can demand controlling the narrative.

You didn't read what I was replying to, did you?
The poster claimed he's paying their salaries and I said he isn't.
Simple as that. Nothing more about anything else like controlling narrartives.

He's not their boss, but the Cowboys contract is incredibly valuable. The Fan was a new station and just trying to get a foothold until they got the Cowboys contract. That and all that goes with it allowed their ratings to jump.

That's why Jerry feels they owe him something. And I'm not saying he's right, or that they are obligated to kiss his boots. But being associated with the team has benefited that station tremendously.

That is incorrect. They work for 105.3 The Fan, which is the “flagship” station for the Cowboys. But they are paid not by Jerry but Audacy Media which owns the station. Jerry is equating their access to broadcast the Cowboys games as being “his” property. False.
Correct. But Jethro can control or hold over their heads those rights to broadcast their games and or the broadcasters who present it.

He doesn’t have to own the stations to carry much weight.

That's fine. They're still not his employees that he's paying.

Of course but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t carry influence. Jethro can find someone else to broadcast their games and conduct these shows.

It's his business. He gets to determine the time, place and by whom to get questioned about his product.
So. He can have people fired if he doesnt like what they are asking? When its questions that the fan base also has?

If he doesnt like it. He doesnt need to have a radio show every week. He wants all of the praise and none of the criticism. Sorry I disagree. We agree on a lot but this I cannot agree with you on my Cowboy brother.

That’s not necessarily true. Sure , you can control the setting with your own scripted set of reporters and journalist . But if you face the open press then you place yourself in position for criticism .
And Jerry handled it as he sees best. He defended how he handles his business. Writers, fans and viewers might not like it, but Jerry had every right to defend himself and his decisions.

Of course. And if you want to defend his conduct and rhetoric that’s fine. I haven’t read where anyone has yet.
