Who you got, who will be the one that gets their way in the contract talks with Pickens and his other clients going forward. David is a tough cookie, he's the Drew Rosenhaus of this time frame. I think Jerry has met his match, who you got Jerry or David??
The Cowboys win no matter what. Starting with Parsons, things got ridiculous, both sides acted immaturely, and it turned into a circus. In the end, the Cowboys walked away with great assets—extra money, draft picks, and players.
So why worry? Who cares who wins? Both sides do. If we lose Pickens, he gets his way, gets paid, and goes somewhere else, hoping that the money is enough. But if he ends up in another Pittsburgh-like situation, he won’t get the production, respect, or involvement in the offense he wants. If it’s just about money, sure, he’ll win, and the Cowboys will still come out with a first-round pick and an extra $35 million to quickly rebuild, plus they can draft another receiver. Other teams have traded their top receivers without even having someone like CeeDee Lamb still on the team,
so I’m not worried—both sides win here.
Pickens is a great asset, just like Parsons, which is exactly why the Cowboys will be fine. I don’t see this as a win-loss for either side. Ideally, they’d reach an agreement and both recognize the value of staying together, but if it comes to a trade, I’m okay with it.
I’ve said this before, and while we didn’t need yet another Pickens thread, here we are. At this point, I might just keep copying and pasting my rant for anyone new who hasn’t seen it yet.
