Jerry: We've paid the price to some degree starting two rookie OL

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan when talking about rookie offensive linemen Tyler Guyton and Cooper Beebe, said he "probably got a little out over my skis, thinking just plug those guys in."

Guyton was drafted to replace LT Tyron Smith. Beebe replaced center Tyler Biadasz. Jones said he thinks both rookies have done well, but added: "We've paid the price to some degree."

If he cant remember what century it is or who we just drafted in the first rd last yr AT THE PC AFTER THE FRST ROUND, then WE CANT EXPECT HIM to remember that rookies usually dont fare well in their frst yr!! to start 2 rookies OUT OF POSITION in their frst yr on the O LINE is insane! It sounds like a drunk decision! Same w letting 10 guys go and picking up only one FA to replace them then starting a rookie corner Who got us beat at least in 2 games. These guys are truely novices. Guyton probably lost us 2 or 3 games this yr too! Jerry gets what he deserves because he is football INEPT! Always has been.

Only a football moron like Jerry would lump Beebe in with Guyton.

Beebe's had a few growing pains but has been a pretty solid and ascending starter as a rookie. Guyton looks like he can't play. I mean, the guys being subbed out for Chuma Edoga on a weekly basis, for crying out loud.
Taco, Mazi, Guyton, and 10 years of mostly wasted # 2 picks.
Not too good..........3 wasted # 1 picks with 3 of your players consuming soon 130 million of your cap annually.
The future is bright.......................

They should both be really ready for 2025. Since we knew this season was a wash it's not a big deal. Two big pieces for the OL for a long long time.
 We can't even get Guyton on the field he sucks so bad.....The guy constantly blows assignments....giving up plays for loss. Have zero faith he's left tackle material. Already getting Taco Charlton vibes this guy is gonna bust.

A GM has to have foresight. We all knew our line was getting old and injured 3 or 4 years ago. That was the time to rebuild when you're still good. But when you wait until the final tackle is gone to reprise the role, then you have situations like this year. I would like a detailed assessment of what Jerry does in his GM role over the years, because whatever he's done or is doing, doesn't work.

Do you watch the games? He has got better since the season opener. He had several good games. He will continue to get better. I have no idea and neither does anyone else in here know why McCarthy doesn't put him in. Considering how much he has mismanaged other players it's impossible to tell what he's thinking.

I swear the people in here that think he should have walked in and be a pro bowl type player completely forgot what the reasonable expectations for Guyton were this year.

Make no mistake, this is Jerry blaming the rookies for his failures. The Cowboys didn't lose because of Guyton and Beebe.

Yes, Jerry, we tried to tell you that rooks need acclimating. I doubt if you heard anything over the panty rustlings as you groped more strippers.

Well yes because rookies grow so if rookies are causing problems that is not a long term issue. Pay no attention to Martin falling off or Steele just regressing hard meaning that now the OLine is 1 good player, hoping 2 rookies massively develop, and 2 glaring needs. Then there is no good WR2, a bad RB room, and a mediocre TE room, all of which were known going into this year but the GM failed. However if you can blame all of that on 2 rookies then suddenly you can ignore those issues.

If they were ahead of a problem for a change maybe they wouldn’t have to count on rookies to start at key positions.

You’ve gotta first be a capable NFL GM.
