Just a part time GM in reality and he doesn’t see it. Too busy being owner to dedicate 100% of his time to being a GM like all the other teams have. That’s that narcissism holding things back and in his hubris, he doesn’t even realize how wrong he is.
He is admitting to a mistake. Jerry loves him some Jerry sure but narcissists never admit to mistakes. They deflect and attack.

When he got mad at being questioned by the radio crew and seemed to threaten their jobs, that was an example of some narcissistic rage.

The take away is not Jerry's hubris. It's how erratic he is.

He needs a full off season.

needs to be at the Star every day grinding.

the new OL coach is gonna be busy.

need RG and RT too.
This is my worry with Guyton, rumors seem that he isn’t the hardest worker and will come out with the slightest of pain. What ever happen the high ankle sprain he self diagnosed, he was available the next week but the coaching staff choice not to play him.

Poor planning is poor planning. Anytime someone says they got out over the skis that means they royally *** up.

What it also shows you is for two years in a row we haven't taken the best player available, we have drafted for need and that's a Jerry issue. Drafting for need is always a consideration to a degree, but you can't take a player who is 20 slots lower then the highest ranked player on your board and expect good things to happen. You draft the higher ranked player and then find someone during free agency who can handle the need better then a rookie, that you hope repeat hope grows into it. We did the right thing with Micah. We wanted the two corners the most, but they were off the board so we went with the highest ranked player on our board. Jerry it too cute by half and he knows better. Beebee was at least NFL strong and smart and had a high motor. Guyton was just a big lug who had the right measurables to play the LT position.

PS. There is no throwaway years in the NFL. Careers are too short. Jerry turned this into a throwaway year.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan when talking about rookie offensive linemen Tyler Guyton and Cooper Beebe, said he "probably got a little out over my skis, thinking just plug those guys in."

Guyton was drafted to replace LT Tyron Smith. Beebe replaced center Tyler Biadasz. Jones said he thinks both rookies have done well, but added: "We've paid the price to some degree."

So Mike doesn’t decide who to play? The head coach? Again, McCarthy or no McCarthy and won’t matter as long as Jerrah is around. Hard to judge McCarthy with Jerrah over his shoulder.

I think there’s a very real chance that Guyton is a total bust.

He doesn’t just struggle, he gets absolutely annihilated whenever he’s in the game.
He won't be and he doesn't get absolutely annihilated either. Good grief. He's put together some solid games this year.

Well who's fault was that Jerry!?
This mofo know he's making mistakes left n right, but still wants to call himself the GM. Man, get out the way, and let the football people do football things.

said he "probably got a little out over my skis, thinking just plug those guys in."

So he is admitting he is the real coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

He shouldn't be thinking about plugging "anyone" in.. the coach should be.

You do your job Mr GM.. then let the coaches decide who starts.
To be fair, he was saying he thought he was drafting guys who could play well immediately. Also to be fair, he's still an idiot.

Jerry: We've paid the price to some degree starting two rookie OL

By saying we've, Jerry clearly means the fans. He and his spawn haven't paid the price for anything. This will be particularly true if our estute GM whiffed on Guyton. Not clear why Guyton is getting mental health breaks instead of reps but I wasnt consulted.
By saying "we", he's trying to spread the blame for "his" decisions.

I would love to take Jerry skiing. I'd lead him down the lift line from the top. He'd be out over his skis in the first ten feet. He would then have to endure everyone on the lift laughing and yelling "yard sale" as he desperately tried to get the snow out of places nobody wants there to be snow.

Shhh, Jerry. Many are blaming Dak. Oh, and you for paying Dak that NFL record contract.

You are selling Edoga short. He was specifically targeted by the Cowboys in FA as someone who could step in and start if necessary. He has. And played well. Guyton needed work. We knew that. We also knew he wouldn't really be ready until year 2. Switching side and learning the pro game is a lot. It's far far to early to say he has to improve A LOT to be worth the pick. There is no question he will take a significant step forward in the off season. He is just getting started on his NFL journey.

Edoga was specifically targeted by the cowboys as somebody who was cheap in FA because he isn’t that good.

And no it’s not far far too early to say he needs to improve a lot. You basically said in your post that he needs to improve a lot and then go on to say it’s too early to say it.

No. He sucked this year and he needs to take major steps in improving to be worth a 1st round pick.

I don’t make any proclamations that he will or won’t get there. Maybe he will, maybe he won’t. But he sucked this year and our FO tried selling him as the starter. It was pathetic.

Martins ankle/leg is jacked up.

Yes. Martin is likely going to just retire and he probably should.

And I don’t mean that disrespectfully. But it happens to every player at some point. Their body just doesn’t have it anymore.

He's been a Cowboy for all of 8 months. So yeah, it's too early. We knew before he was drafted what we were getting. We knew then he wasn't going to remind anyone of Tyron in his prime after just 8 months.

Guyton's issues are the biggest mystery on this team. Is he legitimately hurt more than we know? Is he just soft? Did he lose his confidence?

Too bad none of our intrepid journalists will do some digging and tell us what's going on. Can't risk the team getting mad at them.

Dude. You literally imply in this post (and say in your other post) that he needs to improve and then tell me it’s “too early to say he needs to improve”.

Try employing some logic. He either needs to improve or he doesn’t. There isn’t a too early to say that.

You can assume he will get better if that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. But I’ll wait to see it actually happen first.
