Maybe Jerry Jones is just speaking out of his ***, but there is also good reason for Jerry to keep pumping up Romo and telling the media how much he thinks Romo can lead this team. What's the best way to increase trade value of Romo this offseason? Make it seem like they are willing to keep him to compete with Dak, and that will make teams willing to give up a higher draft pick. If everyone believes that there is no way Dallas keeps Romo past this year, then Dallas has no leverage in trade talks, unless there are a lot of suitors. Jimmy Johnson did the same thing with Steve Walsh in the 90's.
This is not Jones being crafty. He means every word of it.

He wants is the key thing here. Very disturbing.
Disturbing? When has it not been disturbing? The man bought the team in 1989. It's 2016. He's been rambling off at the mouth for over 27 years straight.

I'm not really doubting that he hopes there is still some way for Romo to win a Super Bowl for Dallas, there are still a lot of Cowboys fans who feel the same way. What I'm saying is that if he lets everyone knows about his hypothetical fantasy of Romo, then other teams will probably think he it won't be easy to get Romo in a trade.

I also think people are taking the bus driver comment out of context. People think he is dissing Dak with this comment, but I think he is saying Romo isn't what you expect your backup to be like, just a bus driver. If anything he is dissing Mark Sanchez.

What I find interesting, is that given the importance of the upcoming game, that Jerry wouldn't be entirely focused on the Giants. Whatever happens to Tony is largely irrelevant to the season's outcome which has huge and unprecedented potential. Dithering with this sideshow just seems senseless.

He is a romantic dreamer that honestly has a difficulty staying grounded in reality. So it is not surprising he fails to acknowledge the importance of this football game.

He is more concerned with the visions of Romo dancing with sugar plums in his head.

In my opinion, Jones understands how important this game means for the division and playoff seeding. This is, again, still Jerry Jones. He thinks everything he says is important. He would talk about an age spot on his left buttock if it crossed his mind while a microphone was stuck in his face. And yes. I'm dead serious.

I'm sorry. There is no excuse for what he said today. The media is blowing this up too. Jerry literally sounded like he wants something to happen to dak. And did he call dak a bus driver? Like is this guy serious? Our biggest game of the season and this idiot is on the air spewing this garbage? How are you defending this ?

And if Jerry said "I don't see Romo playing another down here", there would be a 40 page thread saying he was an idiot for destroying the teams bargaining position for a trade.

True, but most smart people in his situation would say we are focused on the beating the Giants right now.

How about echoing the sentiments of your head coach who has had a next game only focus?

Meaning he is actually serious about playing Romo in the playoffs. Go figure Romo goes out and throws the leash on Dak out the window, and from what Jerry is saying, the leash is right back on in the playoffs.

Who is excusing him? Me? An explanation isn't necessarily an excuse. Just because I can grasp the simplistic reality of why a person like Jones says and acts the way he does does not suggest I am excusing him.

People have gone gaga over Jones for nearly 30 freaking years and still do not have a single clue how they themselves can cope with his perpetually daily media hoarding narcissism. Incredible.

If we lose this game, and Dak looks out of sorts this Sunday, we all know why.

You are explaining it in a way that makes sense to all of us, however, I actually believe Jerry believes every word of this. He wants Dak to go down, it sells more. He wants his boy to win a ring, not be on a team that wins one.

I think Jerry gets a hundred media questions every day, IMO he has to either ignore everything or we get these kind of random comments. I don't think the issue is Jerry talking, I think the issue is fans overreacting.

You believe Jerry Jones wants his quarterback, who has gotten his team to 11-1 (should be 12-0) and leading his team into the playoffs with a good opportunity to win it all, injured and unable to play?

Okay. I'm checking out now. Have fun.

"I think Romo is going to get his opportunity," Jones said. "I don't want it to happen. But I think he may get his opportunity to get us a Super Bowl."
HE thinks he will get his opportunity. How the hell else can we be expected to interpret this?

Have you learned nothing on Jones. It's one of three things w/his comments:

-Jones was drunk

-Jones noticed the Cowboys hype meter needed a push and threw a log on the fire

-Jones is negotiating ahead of a hopeful Romo trade

...Or could be all 3.

Reality: Dak will be quarterbacking the Cowboys in the playoffs unless a meteor strikes.

The point Jerry, in his unusual way, was trying hard to make is that he values having Tony on the team and thinks he can convince Tony to stay with the team next year. I would not
bet against deal making Jerry that he cannot make Tony happy for next year's season. He convinced LC that the Cowboys were his ticket to fame and fortune and you know Tony
loves the Cowboys and Jerry. Whether they can make the money work I don't know but, there is a fair chance that Dak could get hurt since he runs with the ball too much in
my opinion. Tony is only one big hit away from having to play so why not get him some time on the field and get him ready for any eventuality. Just sayin'
