The better question is.....How could a team look so good one week and so terrible the next when playing a team decimated with injuries and a team they had dominated weeks before?
The Game was fixed so the last divisional games of the year would be must see TV and attract maximum audience . Thats all I got no other logical reason I can see. LOLOL

How did it backfire We have no reason to believe anything would have changed and realistically the replacement probably would have just been an interim guy promoted from within

Can you name a team that fired their coach at midseason and then went on a winning streak?

I can name a team that was 3-5 at midseason and then went 7-1 in the second half. It was the 2018 Cowboys.

"Fire that bum" sounds great to a fan on his couch but in reality you can't swap out everything on the fly at midseason. The only times it happens is when they promote a coordinator like Callahan and even knowing the system and players, it still rarely turns the team around.

Bad coaching. Cowboys win despite the coaching staff not because of it.

Should have fired him after the Jets game
That early in the season it would have been a knee jerk reaction. i would rather Garrett not have been retained at all for this season, but once he was they had to let things play out

Taking full control of the team and implementing puppet coaches over 25 years ago has backfired!

And Troy Aikman, who is personal friends with most of these Dallas coaches, said it on a TV broadcast. When you fire the HC you promote the in house coach who is doing well. Which of these current coaches have done such a bang up job they deserve a promotion?

Maybe Kellen Moore and Sanjay Lal but Lal is unlikely to ever be anything but a position coach. Moore is 31 years old and in his second season as an NFL coach.

Jerry’s biggest mistake was entrusting this season to Garrett in the first place.

A season with high expectations and a ton of players hitting free agency after it. And Jerry thought Garrett would actually accomplish something that has been proven over and over again, that he can’t do.

It may not have been much better but keeping Garrett certainly hasn’t helped. This team tanked it.

Garrett was getting a full 16 games no matter what.

Every one of us knew it.

Why this is even brought up is beyond ridiculous.

We crushed the Rams two weeks ago, that was really tanking it. "It couldn't get worse" is exactly how teams become the Commanders.

Wouldn't have made a bit of difference.

This is a vastly overrated roster of unlikable players that mostly need to be gone.
Who are the unlikeable players?

Also this team has a very strong point differential. That points to it not being vastly overrated.

Other than that I agree with you.
