Cowboys interceptions were the talk of the 2022 season and all offseason. They led the league with 15 interceptions. Whether they were due to poor receiver play or bad decisions by the QB, those turnovers cost them all year. In Week 1, Cowboys avoided these big mistakes, even in the pouring rain, but the defense from the Jets is much better than the Giants.

The Jets used four Josh Allen turnovers — three interceptions, and a fumble — to upset Buffalo on Monday night. Their defense is fantastic and could take over the game if the Cowboys don’t protect the ball. It isn’t exciting, but a conservative game plan could be the best strategy for a Cowboys victory in Week 2.

This particular Dallas team has an elite defensive unit. Moving the ball on them will be incredibly difficult for a backup QB. They already shut out their first opponent and could similarly stymie the other New York team if the offense doesn’t give up short fields due to turnovers.

The special teams unit is really strong as well, not often giving teams a chance to return kicks and make big plays that way. Protecting the ball should be a priority every game, but particularly with a compromised opponent like the Jets are currently.

Turnovers are the ultimate equalizer in the NFL.

Agreed.

I’d add that Wilson is going to throw his share to the Cowboys defenders. They need to hang on to those instead of stomping around afterward lamenting the lost opportunity.

I see this as a game of mistakes with the winner being the one who makes less.

Normally I’d have more confidence, but this Jet defense is fast and good. Really good actually and the swagger is going to be high minus the QB.

We may need a short field or two from our own defense. The 9.5 line is ridiculous.

If we can some how get a two TD lead early, it becomes a very different game, but that can’t be expected.

I still am skeptical on just how good the cowboys run defense is

Last weeks game got out of control early a botched snap and blocked fg put things in right direction

Whether it was Barkley or Jones they were moving the ball till the snap put them behind the chains

I want to see it more clearly then I’ll believe . I do think we possess best pass rush and secondary in league

I also want to see this line block well against these beast up front for the jets

But what could go wrong? We got the Octo- plat from @GORICO

Josh Allen practically gave the game away to the Jets. He has more turnovers than any QB since he entered the league.

Just don't turn it over and the Cowboys win.
Well that could be said about any qb and team in the league. Win the turnover battle it typicall bodes well for the team and qb with fewer
I agree Josh literally handed game over but some we’re because the defense forces them

They are solid up front

The only hope, or recipe, for the jets is for the Cowboys to implode much like the Bills did. If you are a good team, you don't want to depend on that. Not that it can't happen, because the Cowboys have imploded after a big win before. They won't be able to just run for the victory. Wilson will have to throw the dammm ball. That's why the Cowboys should be able to win this game. Just don't crap the bed, and we good.

Will our fans have a meltdown if we go on offense 1st, and was out of our control? :muttley:

Jets visiting team, they make the call on the coin flip. Hopefully they make the wrong call. We defer, and go on defense 1st. Not that I don't really care. But let the defense set the tone right away.
Of course if we can go down filed and get a TD if we receive first, that helps as well.

But far too often opening drives don't really tell you too much how the game unfolds.
I think both teams rather go defense 1st since that is the strength of both teams for now.

I'm with you on the Cowboys run defense, it's been a problem since forever so color me cynical until they prove otherwise. Theoretically the Jets are not capable of punishing Dallas for loading the box so that's an option if the front 7 can't stop it by themselves. Ideally the offense puts enough points on the board that the Jets have to pass AND the defense stops the run with just their front 7,,, if they can do both of those things this team is on the way to the Superbowl!

Their offense without rogers needed all those turnovers to win. They may have a decent defense but bills got 16 points, they have 4 drives ended by turnovers. So when they didn’t suck and turn it over then they were able to get scores.

Dak will protect the ball and I think our O-Line maybe better than bills. Our Defense will swarm that kid. He has started 22 games. He has thrown 16 tds and 19 ints. He has been sacked 69 times. He has fumbled 6 times. We just need to crash the pocket on him. With Mazi and our DTs stepping up should leave no where to run.

After last week our Defense has been working on plugging the run. No rain to slip and slide in this week. You’re going to see an even faster Defense.

Watching that game was like watching egirls game Thursday’s night. Watched vikings fumble the ball 4 times. And was still in the game.

If you rewatch it, they didn’t have a 1 tech in when NY was running the ball early.

As soon as Hank went in it shut down

We need to be careful with the ball, the jets feast on turnovers like we do. That being said, we are the better team and should win, especially with no Rodgers. 24-13 Dallas

Aside from the Vegas line for betters, I wouldn't see it as a major upset. It I ranked the units it would probably be Jets overall D, Dallas Pass D, Jets Running game, Dallas Passing game, Dallas run game, Dallas Run D, Jets passing game. I expect it to be a very tough game.

The Cowboys winning formula is already known, conservative offense vs strong defensive teams.
If the offense sticks to the game plan, minimize turnovers, should be the winning equation vs the Jets.

....Jets: will commit to the run every way possible. Limiting throwing options.

...Jets: Force Dak to beat them with his arm.

Jets will commit to stopping the run and play coverage behind it

We will have a tough time running the ball. If so, Dak will have to prove he can play mistake free and score
