Jets request interview with Richard

Mike McCarthy would be a very nice fit in NY tho. THAT WOULD BE A GREAT MATCH. A young stud of a QB...an offensive mind in McCarthy...with a highly successful track record working with high profile QB;S...A SB WINNER. Jets would be wise to talk to him.

McCarthy is as bad at offense as Garrett is. He would be terrible for a young QB. All the stuff we say about Garrett, their fans say about McCarthy.

If Richard is offered a HC job, he'll take it...even the Jets. The large paycheck and kudos that goes with any NFL HC position means any assistant who has never been a HC would be foolish to refuse a job. Richard isnt even a coordinator so the pay differential would be huge - like winning the lottery.

Being a failed HC does harm a coaches chances of having a long career as a coordinator and possibly helps. The league is full of failed HCs who are good coordinators.

I figured they would do this. The jets were going to be the 1st team to ask.

Tell them no Jerry.

Tell them they can talk to him after the season is over and by that time they will have hired someone else.

I'm not sure the Jets is a smart move for any coach, unless you only plan on having a 2 year or 3 year stint somewhere.

I think I I just saw on NFL ticker that the Dolphins asked too.

It's amazing to me how many of you want Richard to be the head coach when you criticized Garrett for getting the job with no head coaching experience. Many of you called him the trainee over and over again.
Looked at your avatar.

Guess you would be a happy camper if Clemson and Cowboys win it all in one season!

I guess people in their angst fail to get he is a Rooney Rule shoe-in interview.

I think any team that asks this of another team while that team still has playoffs to play should be told "NO, and not ever since you didn't have the courtesy to wait. That goes for all future coach interview requests. Suck it"

So why was Richard let go by Seattle? Just asking. No shade.

I'm not sure if anything was announced other than the usual vagueness. Lots of theories though. He was a threat to Carroll was one mentioned, another was that Carroll needed a scapegoat after not making the playoffs.

Richard had Cam Chancellor who was playing with a neck injury that forced him into retirement after the season, Richard Sherman had a bad achilles which eventually ruptured and Cliff Aviril was placed on IR with a neck injury that also forced him into retirement. He lost a lot of talent.
