All I heard is that the Defense was going to be fixed because Wade Phillips would have the entire year to coach them and Brian Stewart would be gone.

The main reason Wade Phillips was hired was to fix the defense and he still hasn't done it yet.

What shocked me more than anything was the horrible run defense.

I'm tired of seeing Ken Hamlin getting run over by Running Backs.

Parcells couldn't do it.

Wade hasn't done it yet.

At some point, do we not look at the players we've assembled and say... hey, maybe its them. Just an idea.

Maybe we overrate some of our "talent" on the defensive side of the ball.

Roy Williams reportedly had a pretty good game today as fyi.

Except on the last play of the game he decided to make a hit on the wrong receiver, leaving stokely with nothing but green ahead of him.

He saw the ball going to that guy, and drilled him. His own DB deflected the ball just before.

Imagine all those "awful" Zimmer defenses that lost games 9-6 (or flukes like today) and the like when they were constantly on the field and how they would be with the current offense on their side.

Exactly. The middle of the D just can't tackle worth a %@&^. The culprits are the same guys from last season. Replaced Ayodele, replaced Zach Thomas, replaced Roy Williams, who are left? Who are the constants?

I've always thought this.

Who is really good on D? Ware, of course. Ratliff, who wasn't very good today. Newman, who can only do so much as a corner and wasn't great today either.

Up front, Spears is a JAG, Ratliff is a good but undersized NT, and Olshansky is a role player. Brooking and James are pretty good, but nothing special.

I just don't think we have the talent that some think we do. I think of the Pats adding Wilfork or the Ravens adding Ngata. Just one more big-time player up front can make all the difference. Right now I think we're that one or two players short.

All that said, we have been and should be a lot better than we were today. And I think we will be in the future.

I think Sensabaugh is going to better than good. The "leaders" need to go_never was a fan of either James or KHamlin. Especially all their excuses and whining for pro bowl recognition.

As for adding talent, there are trade options out there. Seymour was available and Peppers could still be.
