JJ compared to other NFL GMs: It is now a young man's game

One point of contention, Bob. Jimmy was the GM from 1989 to 1993 when Jerry fired him. It was even legally written into his contract as such. I've linked it many times, so just google it and save me the time.
Yes , Jimmy had control over all football decisions as was written into his contract. But Jethro still officially had the Pres and GM title .

BTW, your statement is 100% accurate and I verified it (I didn't need to verify but some on this forum actually don't believe it) through an article on The Athletic from a Dallas sportswriter.

And many prefer to look elsewhere, overlook the obvious.......and blame the player. It's comical. And now you get more evidence that will not matter.

Jerry Jones has the title, but 58 year old Will McClay does the work of GM.

IMO you can’t be a good owner and hire Jerry Jones as your GM. There isn’t another owner in the NFL that would hire him as their GM.
Right. To be fair he could have been a great owner if he didn’t insist on wearing all hats.

It’s a shame cause he begun his tenure in this fashion delegating all football decisions to his HC Jimmy Johnson. And they made history together.

But winning championships wasn’t enough as Owner if he didn’t receive the football guy celebrity status he was seeking.

So it’s Will McClay who played hardball with Dak all offseason, and then Will broke and decided to give Dak a record breaking contract at the last minute?

All Will McClay does is give bad advice and get Jerry's Egg-McMuffin in the mornings.
Please man another glorified YES man doing nothing but collecting a paycheck!!

How many of those GMs played football at the college or pro level? Jerry played in college and Lynch played in college and the NFL.

Lynch and SF's super bowl window is closing. Gradually, and then suddenly. How competitive will SF be if they pay Purdy the going rate of $60M/year?

.....care to elaborate.......he might need to be out too. We know the owner isn't going to fire himself.
I’d have no argument the entire front office needs to be cleaned out. But since we know Jethro &Son won’t be they need someone they trust and with ability to scout talent . Which is Wills primary responsibility.
