I would be happy with Felix Jones if we could not get him. Jones plus Barber would be a devastating duo. Felix do not get as many touches as McFadden and still puts up unbelievable numbers.

Or the guy from Rutgers, Ray Rice I think.

He would be pretty good also and would probably be available in the late 1st, early 2nd.

I agree with you Beast Rice would be a good compliment also. I would even be happy with Slaton, or that back from Oregon Stewart as long as we still have Marion onboard. I think we are in a win win situation whether we get
McFadden or not if we can get one of these guys.

If we cant get McFadden (thanks Browns), how do you feel about Desean Jackson from Cal?

I have him rated #2 on my draft board right now behind McFadden. I have watched a couple of his games and he is a freaking beast also, looks like a young TO.:D

MCFADDEN IS A BEAST!!!

I WOULD TRADE BOTH #1s THIS YEAR AND OUR #1 NEXT YEAR TO MIAMI FOR THE 1ST OVERALL TO GRAB MCFADDEN...........HE IS LIKE ADRIAN PETERSON ON CRACK!!!

MCFADDEN >>>>>>> 3 #1s

First off, learn to operate your caps lock key, please.

Secondly, 3 #1's is a lot to give up to get a RB on a team where RB isn't even the main concern.

If Jerry wants to get it done, I'm sure it'll get done. But if he gives up 3 #1's for the guy, then McFadden had better be headed for the hall of fame because we'll be losing out on a lot, unless you think we're going to be in contention for the superbowl (not just the playoffs, but in the superbowl) for the next two years, in which case our first rounder next and this year wouldn't mean much anyway.

If both #1's this year, the 2nd this year, and 2nd next year is what it would take.... I'd still do it.

Romo and McFadden for the next 6 years?!? The offense is set.

Yeah, cause selling your draft out for one player worked out great for the Saints and Ricky Williams right?

He threw for a TD and ended up with over 300 yards rushing.

Unreal.

I love his abilities as a runner, but what sets him apart to me is the threat he'd offer on the halfback option pass... I remember that play was a semi-regular feature of the Cowboys back in the Landry glory days... if it wasn't Dan Reeves throwin' the ball, it was Robert Newhouse...

Naturally, this wouldn't count for much if wasn't also a great running back, but he is...

35 carries...323 yds...runs for an 80 yd td, also throws for one

best player in college football, period.

people can cry and whine about trading picks, but if a team says they'll take our two 1sts next April for the rights to McFadden, I'm doing that all day long

and I'm betting our ownership does too

David

I do believe I agree with you on this one, David... but there is one, LITTLE problem-- if you add a Darren McFadden, Marion Barber is NEVER gonna get the carries of a lead back... if you have a D-Mac, you HAVE to put the ball in his gut 20-25 times a game, minimum... that doesn't leave many carries for the Barberian...

Somehow, I don't think Adrian Peterson on crack would be very good...

I just want a good 3rd down back in later rounds that would compliment MBIII and let him step into the primary back role. We could use those picks on some youth at wideout and secondary depth. It's not like our offense is struggling right now, but it might since our wideouts are getting older.

I realize McFadden is a beast, but man, we have much greater needs right now that a running back isn't going to do a lick of good solving.

Actually, I think about how scary good this offense would be with the next Emmitt Smith or Tony Dorsett, and I think that adding a stud running back would be a very, very shrewd move...

This is true. How much of our inability to run early in games is our backs themselves not being true franchise backs? It would definitely add a dimension that we don't have right now.

I'm just afraid that we're going to be looking at Crayton as a number 1 here in a couple of years and regret not fixing that issue when we had these two picks in the first round.

No, he doesn't... he's MUCH faster then TO, and MUCH smaller... I also don't remember Owens being a threat on kick returns, like DeSean is... he's so skinny, I worry about him standing up to the pounding of an NFL 16 game schedule...

I see Jackson, and in my mind's eye I see a shorter Mike Sherrard... Sherrard should have been one of the Cowboys' great WRs, but his legs were so skinny that he literally broke his OWN leg running during training camp... I saw it happen live (the Boys experimented with a "Ticket to Training Camp" show over my big satellite dish-- C band-- and I was watching the day it happened)...

DeSean is a wonderful talent, but I'm afraid he might make Terry Glenn look like the proverbial Iron Man...

Almost three pages and Iceberg hasn't come in here crying about people talking about McFadden?

Oh, the Boys ought to start drafting receivers early on for the next coupla years, and look to free agency to see how they can improve the receiver corps long-term... but this year, I can justify them waiting until the 2nd or 3rd round before going WR, and for the reasons outlined earlier, I'd be on board with them trading up to get McFadden to make their running game more dangerous...

I recognize the need to compensate for the loss of Owens and Glenn over the next coupla years, but we ought to be able to get another year or two's service out of one or both... I don't see WR as a critical problem YET...

Question: If you could bring back Emmitt Smith in his prime for the next 5 years would you even give Barber a second thought? I think that is what McFadden or even Jonathan Stewart. With a little luck, these 2 may end up being as good as Emmitt.
Barber can be a really good backup or good trade material. Barber will never get us 25+ TD's in a season and consistent 1500+ yds

McFadden had 300+ rushing yards on a South Carolina team that has a pretty good defense... I was impressed, I believe he'll be wearing a Cowboys uniform next year.

Stop all this fawning over a RB who will be taken by the Rams or Falcons.
Trade our 2 No. 1's???? For a rookie RB when we already have the barbarian.

Get real.

Secondary help and WR

Anything less is shortsighted and Jerraesque.

Count me among the Stewart if McFadden isn't available crowd. Rice would be my 3rd choice, but I'd be more inclined to use our 1st than Cleveland's on either of them.

Falcons I can see, Rams, not a chance.
