The Falcons need a QB, they have a nice young running back, Jarius Norwood...

That's funny.

Norwood is a solid back. He's got homerun potential too. I don't think it would stop them from taking McFadden, but they certainly wouldn't be weak at the position with Norwood there (and Dunn as well).

Jerry Jones attended a celebratory fish fry on Friday night for the naming of Frank Broyles Field at Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville. Barry Switzer also attened, but I don't know if Jimmy Johnson did.

I wonder if Jones will ever get a ride in McFadden' candy red car. The ESPN crew showed McFadden's car and mentioned that when he rides around town, everyone knows him.

This draft is very deep at RB. We can get a very good one at our second first.
I'm more interested in a stud CB this draft.

The question should be is McFadden (who has suffered from atleast one concussion plus the leg ailments) that much better (if at all better) than Stewart, Rice or his own backfield mate...

If his backfield mate wasn't racking up yards also... than you can make a case for McFadden being extraordinary... but his backup was within sniffing distance of 200 yards on just 12 carries (174)

2007 Arkansas Razorbacks Football
Arkansas Overall Individual Statistics (As of Nov. 3, 2007)
All games

........RUSHING...GP-GS...Att...Gain...Loss..Net....Avg...TD...Long...Avg/G
Darren McFadden..9-9.....223...1364..48....1316...5.9...12....80......146.2
Felix Jones.......... 9-3.....110...1057..31....1026...9.3...11....73......114.0

as you see his backfield mate avg. per carry is significantly higher has just 300 yards less but 113 carries less...

those of you thinking the guy is worth 2 1st rnd picks might ought to rethink that...perhaps we should be rather looking at their oline or their running scheme

If you watched them play instead of looking at the stats, you'd know why people want McFadden.

McFadden has been doing this for 3 straight years against the best conference in college football, with absolutely no passing game. I'm sold he's the best player in the nation, but I'm not sold on giving up both first rounders on him.

You also have to wonder about the finances. Would McFadden in Dallas, in that new stadium, make Jerry a boat load of money? Reggie Bush sure makes the Saints a lot of money, and they weren't starving at RB either.

The main difference is that the Saint's obviously didn't have to give anything up to get Reggie, other than getting lucky that the Texan's are run by idiots and their previous season was a disaster.

I think that any team with the McFadden pick will want a kings ransom for the guy, more than two #1's. Also, if we give up both #1's, what do we do about WR and CB?

I do believe I agree with you on this one, David... but there is one, LITTLE problem-- if you add a Darren McFadden, Marion Barber is NEVER gonna get the carries of a lead back... if you have a D-Mac, you HAVE to put the ball in his gut 20-25 times a game, minimum... that doesn't leave many carries for the Barberian...

thats certainly somewhat of a concern, but Barber might be ours for only one more yr anyway unless they sign him to a longterm deal, and I really think they'd wait to do that until after they see what happens in April's draft

and even if we have both, McFadden has been splitting carries (somewhat) with Felix Jones, so he is used to it...

and there are other things he can do as well...kick returns, catching the ball AND the threat of the HB pass

I am

he's a special player...I know alot of people love Adrian Peterson, and he is very good...but McFadden is better than Peterson and can do damage alot of different ways...the guy is a franchise altering player

you need to watch the guy play Zax, and I am talking about more than just waiting on the ESPN highlights of one or two carries

that might be ok, if there were any...and there arnt any...honestly I dont see any CB's right now that look like 1st rd picks

also, for the people that are so hellbent on a CB in the 1st rd, what do we do with the two good starters we have now? What about Reeves, who seems to be coming around nicely? I know soembody will say "well Henry gets hurt, and Newman is hurt now" but you dont justify using high draft picks at positions of strength just because "somebody might get hurt"

Would rather go after a CB in the 2nd, best available guy. Address WR through FA, I'm always scared of 1st round WR's.

Its a very difficult choice, but I think Jerry may have already made up his mind.

I have have a hard time giving up two 1st rounder for a player. There has been many can't-miss prospects from college and we have seen many of those never measured up to the expectation. If we were set on all skilled positions except for RB position, then I would have no problem giving with two 1st rounder for McFadden but as of right now, no, I would not.

I think we have two good backs now, but if you get a chance to get a special player, you do it. McFadden is a special player.

I haven't seen any that would warrant a top 10 pick in fact I might add I haven't seen any that warrants a top 20 pick yet...

Absolutely on the money. Barber isn't a RB that needs 24 carries to "Get going". He'll be fine splitting carries with McFadden who - as you said - is also used to splitting carries.
