He's been really solid since Church went down. I was ready to write him off, but Marinelli keeps putting him in position to make plays. He is really setting the tone with his hitting, and he seems to be decent in coverage. He definitely has more range than Church. He did give up that passing TD to Bell, but that is a tough ask for a safety and a heck of a catch.

I don't blame him for that Bell TD. Bell is a really awesome running back and football player and sometimes their players just make plays regardless of how good the defense plays it. Bell made an awesome catch with his hands and Ben threw a great pass. I didn't really think JJ was too much at fault. Like that one play were Carr broke up the pass and the guy still caught it. Sometimes they just make great plays.

But I have been impressed with JJ the last two games cuz I really thought he sucked, but he's playing above my expectations.

A SS all along who was miscast as a FS. Closer to the line and with fewer responsibilities, he's golden.

We're running on fumes in the secondary at this point so I'm thrilled JJ is nearly the least of my worries.

He's a 10 in hitting, but a 2 in tackling.

Yeah, I've thought since we drafted him that he should be a SS and not a FS.

To be honest, I had written him off but he's played pretty well. I guess I was wrong to give up on him. He's not great in coverage but his angles have improved and he brings the boom.

I don't know if Wilcox has pillows underneath his pads, but it seems like he hits people hard and they get back up like it's nothing.

He's proven to be a serviceable 3rd safety.

I've been really hard on the guy in the past but one should remember that when the cowboys drafted him, he had only played safety for 2 yrs in college (played running back prior). In his 3rd year in the NFL, maybe he's finally starting to get comfortable playing safety. Maybe new secondary coach Greg Jackson has something to do with it too.

Actually agree with B0b, Wilcox has more range than Church. He's faster and can actually carry a receiver down the field one on one. Church is smarter, better technician and gets a great jump due to play recognition but Wilcox is the better athlete and more violent hitter.

Wilcox reminds me to some extent of Roy Williams, in that he hits like a Mack truck but doesn't always wrap up like he should. Actually his coverage (limited as it is) is somewhat reminiscent of Roy also. Anyhow I'm relieved to see he's stepped it up a notch this season. Nice. It might prove interesting to see if he keeps on developing in the future, in the event he's to be retained, of course.

You guys seriously underestimate Roy Williams. Roy had multiple game winning pick 6s. Roy led the team in interceptions some seasons. Roy gave this defense attitude. He may not have been Ed Reed...but Roy was an elite player for a decent stretch...and we haven't said that about a player in our secondary in a long time.

I thought going into last year wilcox would start over church. I was wrong and Church is still the better player but Wilcox is not a liability and has played well.

We will need him next sunday, I think the ravens game might be the most physical game of the season.

His tackling is awful. Sometimes you need to wrap up instead of lowering the shoulder all the time

I disagree.

He rocked OBJ in wk 1 last year, and the guy was essentially out of it after that, same goes for Sproles a couple weeks ago.

Leveon Bell was a lot less physical after he got popped too
