Can you throw in a pee down the nub and maybe a couple burn barrel references? Might clear things up.

:) ...easy fella', Percy and I have been talking for over a decade now. He and I already know the impact zone of a linebacker head up on an offensive tackle five inches taller and about 70 pounds heavier as it appears through a face mask.

Back then, I just drove my helmet through the top of his crown before he was fully upright. Then, when he stood up as an angry bear, I was already by him into the backfield. As to an offensive guard, a forearm in his face mask had about the same effect. A fight got him tossed.

Read my post, dude. I said "dominant line/RB working in unison". As in, great offensive line working with a RB that fed off their blocking ability. I did not, nor have I ever, claim that Murray was dominant running back.

And Morris is better than him ....... how is that being cute?

And as cheap as these RB's are playing for ...... it does not keep us from drafting a RB.

JJT must have an account here and he is trying to rile up the fanbase that thinks everything we do is wrong. McFadden did well last year w/out his starting QB and starting WR for most of the season. Morris was not utilized well and Skins O-line was not the second coming of ours. Morris is a cheaper option than Miller, but is still young, a definite RKG and the type of back that can ground and pound. He can catch the ball, just wasn't asked to do it often and probably won't be here as well. I like the signing. This is no Eddie George signing by any means.

I think it has more to do with JJT is an Ohio State Alumni, than it has to do with riling up the fan base.

My point is last year's group had them confident enough to not force a RB pick in the draft. I don't know why this year's group wouldn't do the same. Not only is it better but they are now even more invested in them.

Oh, I agree, they won't force it. Doesn't mean they won't take one if he falls to them. Last year nobody fell and they failed to trade up.

Coming from a Commanders fan, you guys need to give Morris that role. Unfortunately Jay's philosophy is not a ground and pound type of game. Morris however is built for ground and pound (see Mike Shanahan). The more carries he receives, the better he gets as the game flows. IMO he is the perfect replacement for Murray as long as your philosophy is going to be 2014.

The game has changed a lot since 1995.

Since the Rams won with Warner/Faulk, there have been very few winning teams with dominant QBs and RBs. Why you would selectively pick Dallas teams for your trend analysis (is there something specific to the climate in Dallas or perhaps the water that makes them different from every other franchise?) is beyond me. I would think that you would want to look at teams who HAVE won Super Bowls in the last few decades to establish success criteria. I guess history tells us that Miami can't win Super Bowls with big name stars on defense or the Jets can't win a Super Bowl without a playboy QB from Alabama. Philadelphia, Minnesota, and Buffalo will never win Super Bowls. Well, I guess there's some good to come out of History.

Lol...you calling me old!

Cowboys don't have running back to match their philosophy

Philosophically, the Dallas Cowboys want to win games with the running game as the epicenter of their offense, which means quarterback Tony Romo doesn’t have to be their savior every week.

They're going to attempt to do it in 2016 with a running back with a history of breaking down, another coming off the worst season of his career and a third who suffered a torn ACL last October and who might not be ready to play when the season begins in September.

This approach makes little sense.

If you get your butt home in time JJT just might bring you some wings. This guy is the level of idiot of Skip Bayless and Screaming A Smith. He also blocked me on twitter.

History tells us we have never won a super bowl without a dominate QB/RB combination. Tony is still a top 10 QB when healthy. Morris and Dmac are good running backs, but not in the same league as Duane, Tony and Emmitt.
So Elliott will be in the same league as those 3? Doubtful.

Why is it dumb? Here's just a few reasons:

  1. Teams did stack 8 in the box against the Cowboys…a lot. We’ve seen it all of the time thru articles like Ben Muth’s on Football Outsiders. They put 8 in the box because they knew we were not a threat in the passing game with our backup QB’s and no Dez. Per usual, JJT is just making stuff up. Must have had a deadline to fulfill.

  2. Having a tailback that ‘commands’ 8 in the box is not a ‘philosophy.’ Every team would like to have a back that commands 8 in the box. Unfortunately, you can’t just get a tailback that is going to command that every time. It’s dependent up on your O-Line and your passing game as well.

  3. Morris is an adept zone running back (provided he still has some juice in those legs). DMC was better in man blocking. Having both tailbacks helps us be able to switch between zone and man blocking. THAT would go along with our philosophy of being a versatile running team that can use both zone and man blocking schemes along with being able to run left, right and up the middle.

We won in 2014 because we balanced out the offense. We were almost at 50/50 in terms of running and passing. We took the ball out of Romo's hands so he didn't have to throw it so much and that allowed him to be more effective. But, without Romo (and Dez), we simply do not run the ball anywhere nearly as effective because teams just stack the box. For instance, in the 2nd game against Philly in 2014, the Eagles stacked the box and blitzed almost the entire game. Murray had something like 31 carries for 83 yards (IIRC). But we scored a ton of points because it made it easier for Romo. Without Romo teams could just stack the box without any fear and stop the run. And even still, only Adrian Peterson ran the ball better in those last 10 games that McFadden started. And I'm not a huge Bridgewater fan, but he's far better than Weeden, Cassel and Moore.

If anything, JJT wasn't watching the games very carefully to see what the opposing defenses were doing. Dumb, ignorant, incompetent...call it whatever you want.

Yes, get the best RB available in the 3rd or 4th rounds. Do not take a RB with the #4 pick.

One of the better articles JJT has written. But I've been saying that for 2 seasons.

We need a stud. Henry in the 2nd if he's there for me still.

JJT is absolutely correct. I couldn't agree more with his piece.

Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones and Jason Garrett have seen success and been to the proverbial mountain top behind a Pro Bowl laden OL and an elite RB. The 2014 season was a dedication to that philosophy and Murray had an elite season. In order to find that success Dallas must be true to themselves versus trying to have an identify of other teams on the League.

Seattle plays Seattle football. They aren't slinging it around the yard. They want to dominate the lines of scrimmage on both sides. San Francisco under Harbaugh did the same. Saban does it successfully in college so there is a place for it in the pass happy NFL.

Dallas needs to embrace its philosophy and understand that an elite runner with their elite line is what is necessary for Dallas to compete for a title.

From some of the comments Linehan has said, it sounds like their philosophy is what we did in 2014 and we lost our way.

Because we got rid of Callahan - who balanced out Garrett's propensity to just rely on Romo only and ignore the run game.

Exactly. It's the only thing that has resulted in a winning season under Garrett.

But oh, we don't pay running backs because the position isn't worth it.

yeah that doesnt compute with the jones boys, the top 2 RB for dallas are 2 mil a year, so that is the value they put on
RB.
So in their mind they offered Murray a lot , they were going to pay him 4 mil , and later went to 6 mil or close to it.

The problem is they think Dez is worth 13 mil a year lol, but a good or really good RB has top value of 4-5 mil,
and they are happy with the good at 2 mil a year.

This says to me they dont understand the 2014 year at all.:banghead:

They wont draft zeke or henry, but may pick up a low round RB in Rds 5-7.:flagwave:

I think the plan is to build a great defense so whatever the offense does is ok.
But can they build a great defense? so far not so good, and Romo's time here is limited.
Dont know if Tony will see this great defense, but he has Dez and a decent Run game.

I just feel like we have seen the best of dez , and dont think he will be a difference maker
going forward, and not worth the 13 mil a year.

I will add that I like Morris, he is RKG, and they say he does better in a zone scheme , and McF is better in a Man scheme.
Some say Morris based on that will become the main RB.
He is cheap, hard working, zone runner, so with our OL maybe he can do good here.

I just think McF will start and cant see Morris taking over the main role if McF is healthy.

It would be exciting to see dallas draft zeke, and see him run 25 times a game , but odds are that isnt going to happen.
Philly is projected to take zeke.
