There are two things players should never talk about publicly: another player's money or his woman.

Terence Newman violated that rule the other day, when he talked about Tony Romo's relationship with Jessica Simpson affecting his ability on the field.

That's just wrong.

Just like it would've been wrong for Romo to say Newman didn't deserve the six-year, $50 million extension he received becasue he has an issue staying healthy since he's only played 23 of 32 games the past two seasons.

You don't talk about another man's money because he's worth whatever the organization is willing to pay him.

And you certainly don't talk about another man's wife or girlfriend for any reason unless you have something nice to say because we all know you can't help who you love.
Those words are personal. Those words cut deep. Those words cause wounds that can't be healed by sayng, "I'm sorry" or "I was taken out of context."

It's unprofessional and it's unfair.

This is what I mean when I say this team is in deep need of healing and until it happens, this team isn't going to win anything of note.

This team has issues. The players don't trust one another. The coaches don't trust the players. The coaches don't trust the coaches.

How could they? Wade Phillips threw his most loyal subject - defensive coordinator Brian Stewart - under the bus as soon as he could.

This team needs a week of group hugs and bonding. It's needs those teamwork and trust exercises that occur at workplace retreats.

If it doesn't happen, these Cowboys as currently constructed will bring nothing but disappointment.

Cutting Owens rid ourselves of cancer...

Wait.

Huh.

We need a players coach, Parcells is too tough.

Wait.

Huh.

At some point, we need to look at the roster, realize we've got quite a few lemons, and realize the reason we haven't been relevant in the playoffs for quite some time is the players. 3/4 years, we've been 9-7. Our talent level is that of an above average team.

I can't believe that after JJ put the gag order on the coaches that he didn't tell the players to shut up and get their act together.

Maybe JJ figured the players would get the hint after the coaching gag order, cutting TO, cutting RW . . . .

Some of our players need stuff spelled out to them.

And by the way JJT, the reason Stewart was fired is because he stunk!

Disagree with what? So you think a player should talk about another players wives or girlfriends?

I would love for Romo to explode on Newman for this. He needs to let people know where he stands and it is totally inappropriate to open your opinionated mouth about his relationship status.

Players like newman are replaceable. Players like Romo are not. The cowboys could have traded for Lito Shepard and probably improved the position with a 2nd round pick. They cant do that with the QB.

the fact of the matter is Tnew need to shut the heck up. PERIOD. Many of us love the guy so we are willing to put up with him a bit. However, the reality is, the guy, much like TO, needs to just shut up.

There is no code when the girlfriend is famous. Rodney Peete, Troy Aikman, Tom Brady, et al can all testify to that.

Hos, my issue is that if I'm TNew, why even speak about this issue?

What's my upside if I say anything? Why not just say "next question", or "I'm not going to speculate about my QB's personal life in public. It's a private matter."

Maybe it's me . . . . but I couldn't imagine saying anything about my colleagues' personal lives to the press, whether they asked the question or not.

Somebody needs to tell Newman to shut the hell up or he is the next one out the door.

If Jerry released his pet cat TO, then he wouldnt give a second thought to releasing Newman.

This is typical leftover TO BS!! The same thing happened in Philly. Defensive players continued to show him support after he was gone and they seemed to dis the coach or offense while doing it. That is what TO does. He splits the lockeroom by getting defensive players on his side. I'm soo glad he is gone now but it will take 2-3 years to rid the team of his influence and I'm sorry to see that Newman will eventually have to go!

IMO, Newman should be fined for his comments to the press. Players on this team just need to SHUT UP. TNEW, maybe Romo should comment on your fragile state of injuries???

JUST SHUT UP AND PLAY. Fines for every player that says something or does something STUPID to hurt this "team"; period!!

This Apparently Is No Big Deal

If Tony Romo has a problem with Terence Newman's recent comments made to WFAA then he's doing an excellent job of concealing it, or he doesn't care. The two were playing golf together on Monday afternoon.
In a recent interview with WFAA's Joe Trahan, Newman was asked about Troy Aikman's comments that he wasn't sure if Romo had grasped what being the Cowboys quarterback is all about.

Newman said: "I think that with the situation Tony was in, I think that kind of maybe hurt him a little bit - being a first-year starter, then you have the limelight with his girlfriend and situations of that nature. It's going to take away from him being a quarterback, being a successful quarterback. He won 13 games and everything was perfect, but now after this past season, it was, 'Is he doing enough for the team? Is he working hard enough? You know, he's got this girlfriend, so ...' I think that once he inherited the starting quarterback job and his relationship got into the national media attention, I think that that was something that definitely hurt and took away from Tony Romo being a great quarterback."

Who knows? Maybe Romo agrees with him.

I'm not a big fan of Newman. He doesn't make enough big plays whenever he does play.

Oh Newman!

People crack on Crayton, but at least he is usually pissing off the opposition. NOT his own team.

I wish these guys could just do what they get payed to do.
