There is no code when the girlfriend is famous. Rodney Peete, Troy Aikman, Tom Brady, et al can all testify to that.

famous or no, tnew did cross a line.

there is a reason no other player stated the same thing.

tnew needs to just shut up.

And if Newman had a problem, he would have. But pointing out the circus around Romo because of his GF and how different the perception is between how he is viewed when he goes 13-3 and 9-7 is not a "problem".

Either TNew is heinously stupid and believed he could speak about such things without the media running with it, even after ample evidence to the contrary or he did it as a message to Romo.

There is no defending TNew here because the bottom line is once he opened his mouth he was wrong pretty much no matter what followed.

There is a code.

You never talk about anyone - period.

Especially not to the media. Anything can be misconstrued.

You have a problem with someone you talk to them to their face.

That was a classless act.

Yeah, REAL classless.

The man was essentially DEFENDING his QB, and you call it classless.....gotcha.

I agree he should have just kept his mouth shut, but come on people.

...and I don't think he has a problem talking with Romo, as he was on the golf course with him when this non-story broke out.

I wouldn't call him classless just dumb.

You never address someone's personal life and T.O. proved during his tear-laden defense of Romo that no matter how hard you try defending Romo is going to blow up in your face.

Just tell the media to go fly a kite.

Its not that friggin hard.

These guys have everything they could want yet still can't go without hearing their own voice on radio or tv.

NFL Network ran this story with tabloid, false headlines and left the middle of Newman's quote out of his statement. The headline was on NLF.com. They took him out of context and falsely quoted him by leaving an important part out of his quote.

It was a hack job.

Terence Newman didn't do anything wrong. He was defending Tony Romo. The only people who are "stupid" are the unethical journalist who took what he said and misinterpreted it or purposely misrepresented him, so they can make a living on Soap Oprah football journalism.

The iplayer is gone, so they will have to get creative, now.

Terence Newman was collateral damage for JJT and NFL Network.

Tony Romo was the real target.

It's pathetic.

Plus, like Thompson 75 said, it's sad fans didn't understand what Newman was saying.

Reading comprehension and a little football knowledge goes a long way in life.

What the hell does JJT know about lockerroom code, anyway.

He said he never played football, much less even cared about it until he got a job to cover the 'Boys.

Agree 100%. Anybody that would take the time to listen to the whole interview would realize this. This was a giant spin job. Somebody saw it, either was too stupid to realize what it was or realized how they could make a story out of it, and ran with it. It's pathetic.

and what part of it do newman and many posters here not understand.

Perception is reality. Say anything and you are declaring something, and around here something big.

Newman going on channel 8 and even talking about jessica and romo in any capacity refuels the jessica is bringing tony down.

Dunham and miller made a big deal out of this on their show this morning and they did two segments if i remember correctly on women bringing down athletes.

As soon as any dallas cowboys player acknowledges it or talks about it in any way shape or form it is a talking point again. There are 7 tv stations here and 3 sports radio stations. They are dying for material from the cowboys.

Newman and imo, every other member of this defensive unit would be wise to dissapear until minicamp. They all need to worry about their own issues.

No good can come from talking in this market. There are no such things as harmless comments. If any player does an interview here and spends 5 minutes talking up romo and how good he is etc and then says one thing negative for 10 seconds no matter how small, it starts a firestorm.

Nah. They (and the rest of the team) usually wait until December to disappear.
