Newsflash... The NFL is a week to week league. JJT expected the team to go and bury the giants. That didn't happen so you know scrutiny is coming. JJT has always told it like it is. Until this team performs don't expect to hear anything differently.

EXACTLY. I see so much complaining about JJT's work when all he is doing is giving his honest opinion. The problem is that so many Cowboys fans want him to put a positive spin on everything: even a loss.

When the Cowboys play well, his article is positive. When they lose, then of course the article will be negative.

This is the time of year when we should not expect many positive reviews because the Cowboys always seem to find a way to lose games: I know it, JJT knows it, and so do all of you.

I find it very funny that people who think he is such a bad columnist continue to read his articles. If you do not like his articles, then stop reading them.

Dallas loses a close one in NY and JJT writes an article bashing them, relishing in the fact that December will give him "substance" for his job.

Imagine that.

This is the same JJT that will argue that he really is a Cowboys fan.

Think about it.

It's that easy ladies and gentleman. DMN have any spots open?

When did JJT claim that he is a fan of the Dallas Cowboys?

Say whatever you want, Norv Turner has done a good job in San Diego. They are 10-0 in the final month under him. 10-0. And yes, they made it in at 8-8, not only due to a Denver collapse, but also due to their final month run. And once they got into the playoffs, once again, they won a playoff game.

They went further than us in year 1 - AFC Championship game
They went further than us last year - made the playoffs and won a playoff game
They have a better record than us this year

Any way you cut it Norv Turner has out performed Wade Phillips.

And they also have just as many Super Bowl wins as we do in the last 13 years.

? It was a close game until the punt return TD, was it not?

The last time I checked the game is 60 minutes not 55. Yes, it was a one score game before the punt return, but they made the play to put the game on ice. We didn't lose by a last second FG or give up a late TD. The giants had the game wrapped up after the punt return. If it makes you feel better we lost by 7 so be it.

And this is what we have done since 1995, explain our failures by pointing out someone else's.

I'm tired of hearing, "well, only 1 team wins the Super Bowl every year", yada yada yada, blah, blah, blah, blah.

I'm sorry, that is not the mindset that made this the greatest football franchise in the world. That is not the mindset that gave us 5 Super Bowl appearances and 2 Super Bowl wins in a single decade. (the 70's) Nor is it the mindset we had when winning 3 Super Bowls in the first 5 years of the 90's.

There used to be a belief that the Dallas Cowboys were special, were not like the rest of the league, would not settle for anything less than excellence.

Now, we have a head coach who continually sends the message, "hey we have done pretty good" even though we haven't won squat when it comes to meaningful games.

And now, all of the sudden, we have an owner who seems fine with that too, since he keeps himself in the GM spot without a playoff win in 14 years.

My point was not that San Diego has won Super Bowls, but by the VERY STANDARD THAT WADE AND MANY OF YOU WANT TO USE, "just how far we go", Norv Turner's team has outperformed ours 3 straight seasons.

Call me a spoiled Cowboys fan if you will, but I remember "America's Team", and when we got that title it wasn't because of Hard Knocks or Cage Dancers, it was because we were WINNERS, year after year. And it wasn't just regular season wins either.

JJT is annoying - can't believe that he has too many contacts in the locker room anymore - but I think he captures the essence of Wade's contented mindset that ultimately fails him when in the company of hungrier coaches that have the guts to put every thing on the line at almost any cost to win championships, including alienating some players and occasionally head officers.

Why is Wade getting all the hate, this is the same core group of players who have been underperforming since Parcells. At some point you got to blame the people who actually play the game, the players.

The funny thing is Wade has you all dancing around, including the media. Wade will happily take the heat from the media instead of throwing his players under the bus. I am pretty sure that issues are being handled in house and I bet a lot of guys appriciate not being called out in the media. The problem is, we have dumb players who really don't care about winning the the superbowl. They are not hungry

Norv Turner, the coach Jerry Jones rejected to hire Wade Phillips, returns to Dallas on Sunday with an opportunity to send the Cowboys' season into a free fall.

You must admit the irony is delicious. It gets even better.

Phillips' team that plays its best football before Thanksgiving Day, while Turner's team plays its best football in the final month of the season.

Wade vs. Norv is going to be rather interesting. Gotta admit, neither was an intriguing option but I definitely didn't want Norv. Have to give him props though, he's done much better in SD than I expected.

Everyone wants to take their shot at JJT in this thread even thought his articles can be annoying but he's right in everything he stated in this and I have no problem in what he wrote.
How is he RIGHT about a game that has NOT EVEN BEEN PLAYED? I am sure everyone knew the beatdown that awaited Oakland when they travled to Pitt last Sunday, right?

Can you just do bold for emphasis? The underline on top of bold is almost impossible to read.

Yes, and perhaps use another font for effect....one that is softer on the eyes:rolleyes:

Beat the Chargers, who are riding a seven-game winning streak, and the season remains salvageable. Lose and this season is a wrap because we know the beatdown that awaits in New Orleans the following week.

We know JJT is a ******** writer for the DMN.

San Diego was stupid to ever fire Marty. IMO.

He usually does a decent job game planning us as well, should be an interesting home game.

In terms of closing out a season, there is no comparison. I haven't bothered to check the regular season records overall, I will leave that up to Wade Phillips to stammer out in a press conference later in the week.

Say what you like about the Broncos' collapse, the Chargers aren't responsible for that. They did take the division and they soundly whipped the Broncos to do it (we whimpered our way out of Philadelphia in a similar circumstance). They did win a playoff game last year. They went to the AFC Championship two years ago and played fairly well, with a QB playing on one knee.

Phillips has squandered far more opportunities. Turner has overachieved. Phillips has underachieved. It is just that simple.

Maybe your are correct.

But these dumb underperforming clods are being coddled by a man who doesn't even have an idea what winning a playoff game is like. And that is okay? Not in my book.

Yeah, I didn't understand that one. In fact, Marty never should've gotten the ax in D.C. years ago, but I'm glad he did. He was much better than many who followed him.

He's always been a very good OC. His game management was very lacking though at several previous stops. But he seems to be doing fine now.
