I know some of you value JJT's info, and some think he can kick rocks. But, in the event that you are interested in this week's segment, I've posted the link below. A few key points he covers:

    1. He asserts emphatically that Dez isn't coming back, or at least not as a Cowboy. Advances the notion that key people in the FO have been following his workout videos, but find it to be "bad tape." Says Dez really valued getting right mentally before (attempting) returning to football, but is learning the same lesson that Greg Hardy learned and the lesson that Antonio Brown is learning now: the league doesn't wait for you. And he's now pushing 32 years old. Says guys like Dez by nature are incapable of taking lesser roles, even though he has indicated such.

    2. No one can really pinpoint the issue in getting Dak's contract done. People within the organization think it's the length that is the hold up and think Dak wants small deals so that he can sign extensions 3-4 times during his career. People close to Dak suspect it's guaranteed money. JJT firmly believes that the Cowboys are going to end up tossing the transition tag on him to get a better handle on his actual value. Only time will tell.

    3. X Woods had a solid 3rd season, but really underwhelmed as we all thought he was going to break out and potentially make the Pro Bowl roster. Regardless, key people in the organization think he under performed because was in a predictable trash scheme and a more complex defensive scheme could help him reach that plateau. Clearly the FO aren't zoners because we've said Marinelli was trash from almost the beginning. I guess it took average to below average guys like Darnold, Trubisky, Teddy Bridgewater, and Josh Allen to expose this system for what it truly was....archaic.

I don't think Marinelli's scheme is trash. Hell, he's been in the NFL for years, considered one of the top defensive cordinaters for years, he had a job in the NFL like two hours after he got released in Dallas.

I think there is something to the report that was aired earlier. The problem was not Marinelli or Richard, per say. The problem was that neither had full control over the entire Defense. When Rod ran is scheme up front, the LBs and secondary were not in sink with that and it created issues. I think that's probably more of the problem.

I think Marinelli can Coach but like all Coaches, you are as good as your talent. We have not really enjoyed the talent level on the Defensive Side of the ball, we've seen Offensively IMO. Who's fault is that? Hard to say for sure but I do think the guy can Coach. I just think it was time for him to move on.

    That's just my opinion.

I would be shocked if they put the transition tag on Dak. The non-exclusive Franchise tag, sure; but NOT the transition tag. The transition tag only allows you the right to match any offer and ZERO compensation if you don't match.

I was thinking the same thing about Dak. He wants market value, but how do we know the market values him that much. Hit him with the non exclusive franchise tag and lets see what the market says about his value.

If you sign a 4 year deal the guaranteed part doesn’t matter to the team
You ain’t cutting him in 3 yrs anyway
And if your the playing barring injury it doesn’t matter to him because if you are cut you get to be free agent
I get a long term deal but a short deal it doesn’t matter

Marinelli is trash as a D-Cordinator. I watched him here in Chicago, he ran Lovie's D. He got a job as a DLine coach, that is where he excels.

Whatever the case, I don't believe he is as bad as you suggest. I watched him in Chicago as well. When he talent, they were pretty decent. I watched in in Tampa, same deal.

Marinelli is a great DL coach, but as a D coordinator hes methodology is old and out dated. His tampa 2 band don't break defense, can be broken if the players dont buy in fully, or the opposing team has the players and scheme to break it. (Both of which we saw this last season).

If you had noticed his new job two hours later...it was for the DL, not a coordinator. His time as a coordinator is done, and that coupled with the whole weird situation with Richard's half coaching is why he is no longer a Dallas Cowboy coach.

Kinda embarrassing to just demote a guy honestly

He's not a "I'm going to scheme you out of your offense" kind of guy, but he's not a bad DC.
You're right: he relies on talent, which most do, but his schemes don't really elevate anything with their simplicity.
