I think he's getting interesting and I bet you he's gonna have a much better next decade than the last one.

Same here! I've thought he's gradually became much more tolerable through the years, come on sports fans, nobody wants a monotone robot voice like the ones on u.f.o. U tube videos,,, when there really isn't much to espouse upon in a stinker of a game ,John Madden could spin-off on something that would make you think w.t.f.?

I do know I can't stand Aikman and Buck calling Cowboy games...Aikman especially...It's like getting punched in the gut with a dumbbell.

When I watch local NBA broadcasts and the home announcers are constantly crying about bad officiating and what-not I couldn't imagine anything more boring than that propaganda.

Franky I would abandon the whole broadcaster shtick and let like 3-5 dudes just watch the game and talk. something like what the fox pregame probably does when they watch. but in my scenario they'd be more natural friends than those guys are.

So instead of Troy being Troy: "let me tell ya joe when you talk about excellent football players I think you would be remiss in not mentioning this guy right here"

You'd get Irvin being Irvin: "this dude is killing them he needs to step up"
It used to make me sick how Troy went out of his way to slobber all over Clinton Portis. It was one thing to compliment the guy, but it appeared that he went overboard to make Commanders fans happy.

Biggest d-bag on television. He's OK to listen to, but as soon as his metrosexual terminal 5-oclock shadow appears and he starts those Ron Burgundy mannerisms, I want to throw up.
I say we go calling on him tonight! Put the fear of NFL football into him! Are you with me?
Fire up them torches fellas!!!!Lem, get the pitchforks!!! Tell our women to have breakfast ready when we return! Godly retribution makes me hungry!

Buck is not wrong.

Every fanbase in every sport, save for maybe the St. Louis Cardinals, thinks that Joe Buck hates their team.

Its bizarrely funny.
Actually, Cardinals fans think he goes too far in criticizing the Cardinals while trying to be neutral and winds up being a "hater."

Sounds like another fan base I know and this guy named Troy Aikman?

I personally do not believe he roots against the Cowboys. However, I can see why fans of all teams feel like he does. Because he is a condescending prickle. He just talks down to all teams.

BUT, it sure seemed like he particularly enjoyed kicking Romo when he was down.

Announcers are paid to exhibit excitement, regardless of who is doing something to impact the game. Otherwise, they're replaced for being dull. I'm sure the network bosses also made it clear not to show preference for their former team. Fans of other teams would be livid. I can well imagine how they feel when Michael Irvin dotes over his Cowboys. I'm a bit surprised the network people haven't replaced him for being so adamant about it, not that I mind, however. In fact, I'll admit, I enjoy it.

He is smug, but I don't get why people hate him so much. Buck/Aikman are way better than anything on CBS, especially the Phil Simms team.

They are not better than Eagles/Fouts, Catlon/Beurlein, Harlan/Gannon, McCarthy/Archuleta or Nantz/Simms IMO.

Not better than Michaels/Collinsworth, McDonough/Gruden, Albert/Johnston, Stockton/Spielman, or Burkhardt/Lynch.

He is about on par with Dedes/Wilcotts who I think are awful.

You act as if this is fact.

A guy that is better than I expected is Ronde Barber.

Harlan, Albert, Stockton and Burkhardts' teams are the four that I can handle. Even the team that has David Diehl on Fox. Yeah, they can ramp up their voices on big plays, but neither get me excited enough as I'm not an average fan either, from my experience with coaching at HS and a little as a D3 assistant.

I heard an interview with Buck on NFL Radio and he actually seemed like a humble dude. I've never really been a fan of Joe Buck but I did ask my daughters for his book for Christmas. I hope they buy it for me because I don't think I'd buy it for myself. Spend MY money on Joe Buck's book? Probably not. Spend YOUR money on Joe Buck's book? You betcha!

I actually do hope they get it for me, honestly.

Buck is a low bar to hurdle.
