What are the odds that Joe Gibbs gets fired and Mrs Daniela Snyder attempts to hire Bill Cower from the Steelers?

While Cower doesn't win every year, he generally keeps his club competitive and has taken them to the SuperBowl twice.

Good Post.

I've said it before, Gibbs WAS a very good coach, but a horrible personnel man. Bobby Beatherd put those teams together and Gibbs coached them. As evidenced by this year, Gibbs makes personnel decisions too much with his heart than with his head.

Also, his MAJOR downfall in this whole Gibbs 2 go-round was buying into the Snyder way of putting a football team together (I'll buy it) as opposed to the tried and true method of building through the draft.

He believed what was written about him and rode back into DC in glory, and as we see every week on the sidelines (head down, not watching FG attempts, looking panic stricken and basically not in a good place) he is OVERWHELMED by the pressure.

Your point about him not being the right man for the job is on point, because to do so, would be to admit complete, and unmitigated failure and waste of the past 3 years, and I don't even think he has it in him to see a process like that through.

Good point on the failed personnel decisions. While Portis has good games here and there, he mostly finds himself getting injured or whining about something while Champ Bailey simply shuts down half the field for the Denver Broncos defense. I think it's pretty evident who got the better end of that deal. If the Skins had simply used the draft (what a concept!) to find their RB, they could have had their pick of Steven Jackson, Kevin Jones, Julius Jones, et al. and perhaps still had Bailey.

I think that swapping of picks can only occur if both teams finish in the 20-32 range. In other words, if Washington ends up with the worst record in the league, and Denver wins the SB, they aren't going to switch the 1st and 32nd picks.

There are probably a lot of conditions to the swap that the average fan doesn't know about.

your right about that. The skins have to be below a certain pick(15th or something) in order for the swap to occur.

After that, the compensation has to do with the ammount of spots that are switched. If it is a lot, then the compensation will obviously be smaller. But if it is a little, I think a 2008 3rd rounder is thrown in or something.

However you look at it though, its a dumb deal

Brunell didn't play horrible, just didn't make the throws when it really counted. Kind of sounds like a contradiction doesn't it. Well, maybe the WR didn't run the routes very well. No matter what, funny to see.

In the last couple of weeks brunell hasnt played " that bad" so to speak. Actually, yesterday he didnt have all that bad of a fantasy day with 2 tds, no picks, and over 200 yards passing.

But this all comes from underneath passes. If we actually had a QB that could throw it more than 20 yards down field, I could see this offense actually doing something. In order to be a successful defense against us, all you have to do is put 8 men in the box constnatly. If we threw it deep JUST ONCE yesterday, it most likely would have been a big play, because moss would of had 1 on 1 coverage. But we cant do that with this QB.

I actually kind of feel bad for Brunell. He seems like a class act, but his age is letting him do what he once could do. Saunders needs a QB that can throw downfield, and sometimes I wonder if he is actually trying to put campbell in the game, but gibbs is holding it back or something

What about Gregg Williams? Last year many here were pimping him as some kind of defensive guru but he hasn't done much this year.

Maybe he's just pulling the wool over the Boys eyes. You know, like they were doing in the preseason, by not showing anything. ;)

Honestly, I dont really think anyone can lay the blame on him just yet.

In GW's defenses, you need a good secondary. In the last two years, he had that. This year, it looks like we possibly have one of the worst secondaries in the league.

Its obvious that something is different from previous years. The main part of this is no blitzing. He is notorious for sending the house on many downs. But without a capible secondary, he can't do that.

Its hard to do, but I kind of want to pin the blame on that. Im sure there are other things that are going into the defenses decline from last year, but I think that the secondary is the main problem why our defense isn't playing well.

Aikman said it best yesterday, just because you sign a bunch of guys every year and they are all talented, it doesn't mean they fit in. He stated that chemistry is very important in the NFL and that the Commanders don't have any.

And I think that Commander nation is finally beggining to realize that(well, at least the fans for that matter). I hope for the sake of this organization that Dan Snyder finally wakes up realizes this and changes his ways.

But hey, maybe thats too much to ask of from this guy.

We went through our period of Jerry calling the shots in every aspect of the organization from coaching decisons, draft/talent decisions to salary considerations...

We signed big name players, gave up draft picks, had no cap room and no chemistry...

It viciously culminated in 3 straight 5-11 Dave Campo-coached seasons...

Better buckle in... you may be in for a long, slow, dissappointing ride...

Do you really think that's ever going to be learned? You guys got some success last year, after not going nuts in the offsseason, and all of a sudden it was "Gibbs did it before, won this way. Draft picks aren't as much of a sure thing as free agents. Gibbs hasn't made any bad personnel decisions since he got here." Your team is going to fool you every year. Campbell will show some promise late, and the hype will start all over again, that the team will finally be able to take advantage of their weapons, yada, yada, yada.....

Agreed. Gibbs and Danny should have never traded away Bailey, IMO.

The mediots have taken the gloves off. I am listening to a local sports station 980 am this morning. The venom..............It's going to be a an interesting bye week for the Cowboys.

I hope they knee jerk and start the rookie (experience-wise) Jason Campbell against us on 11/5. gives us a better chance to return the favor from last year and put the final nail in the coffin:suxskins:

Trust me, Brunell gives the Cowboys a better chance at winning! Campbell would at least provide a spark and some downfield passes.

Geez...I wonder if Gibbs can write enough letters to the league office to challenge the ref's calls to salvage the season ? Can't believe how many bad calls the deadskins must have gotten to be in this 2-5 hole ? It must be driving Gibbs crazy...Oh the humanity !

The last film he sent in showed that the players on one team, his, were all wearing big red noses and floppy shoes. The league told them they couldn't wear the bicycle horns on their belts for safety reasons.
