Geez...I wonder if Gibbs can write enough letters to the league office challenging the officiating so he can salvage the season ?

Can't believe how many bad calls the Deadskins must have gotten to be in this 2-5 hole ? It must be driving Gibbs crazy...Oh the humanity !

I didn't see the second half of yesterday's game, but I can guarantee you the Moss penalty will be sent to the league offices for complaint.

Moss retaliated and was penalized moving the Skins back 15 yards and they doinked a FG off the uprights.

That and I heard they kicked off from the 5 yard line. That doesn't happen unless the refs hate you ;)

My favorite part of that episode was when their punter, Frost, tried to punt the kickoff from the 10. The refs blew the whistle and he went nuts, got a personal foul and moved them to the 5.

How can coaches in the NFL not know that you can not punt a kickoff? If that was the case, would we not have Mcbriar punting off vs Vandy kicking off.

Yeah I was wondering what set Frost off. I saw the clip of him screaming and taking his helmet off, but didn't know what for.

And the first half was a sickening and embarrassing display on the Commanders part. Their defense were literally celebrating after every other tackle.

Funny thing is moss did that helmet head butt twice but the ref's did not catch it the second time.

How stupid was that, anyway? Then he goes out with a hammy. I'd be so ticked if that stuff were going on with the Cowboys.

Maybe he's just pulling the wool over the Boys eyes. You know, like they were doing in the preseason, by not showing anything. ;)

The Skins only managed 7 points in the first half against a team that can't stop the run and has a weak secondary.

I really believe that Brunnell's numbers are fooling Gibbs and Saunders. Teams are following the blueprint that Dallas gave in week 2.....Cover 2 to take away the deep ball and make Brunnell throw between the numbers.

Right now they have a 39% third down conversion rate, which is okay. However, that's skewed by the JAX and HOU games. Take out those games, they've only converted 30% of the third downs. In essence, on third downs opposing teams pretty much know what the Skins want to do, they cut that off, and force Brunnell to beat them up the middle and he can't do it very often.

I wish we would have stayed with that vs. the Eagles.

I was wondering the same thing. Has anyone told Gibbs that this is the REGULAR SEASON??? I guess he's still throwing out that "vanilla offense" we keep hearing about.

it's his masterplan, he's waiting till the 2nd half to make another run

8 games should be enough to confuse us all

Brunell didn't play horrible, just didn't make the throws when it really counted. Kind of sounds like a contradiction doesn't it. Well, maybe the WR didn't run the routes very well. No matter what, funny to see.

And what about Randel El...what kind of $$$ did he get, 20 million, I can't remember...so 20 million (??) for a TD on a PR...:laugh2:

Outside of maybe Oakland, I can't thing of an entire organization being run worse than the Commanders right now.

Traded away draft picks for (mostly) garbage, poor drafting with the picks they manage to keep, huge contracts for mediocre players, an aging roster with no depth to speak of and a clearly undisciplined, poorly coached team taking the field every week finding ways to beat itself.

They are all but finished for this year. And I see no reason to expect massive improvement for the next couple of years either as they have no draft to speak of, no core of young players expected to get better, and next year will be starting Campbell, possibly withough getting much playing time this year if Gibbs sticks to his guns.

If they continue losing this year I doubt Gibbs even comes back - I don't think he signs on for another 2-3 year rebuilding process, which is what the team clearly needs, and if I were a Skin fan I wouldn't even be sure he'd be the right guy to do it, given the current mess.

Gibbs the Sequal is about 2 or 3 losses away from being an unmitigated flop. He should have stayed in NASCAR.

But...but...but, the RedStinks won a playoff game last year and swept the Cowboys!! St. Gibbs (the little rat faced spitter) will save the world!

They better start winning soon or they will be in a position to draft Brady Quinn or another top notch pick.

they don't have any draft picks and I believe that Denver gets their first rounder if Wash's pick is higher than Denver's. :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

Saunders is obviously only using 2% of his playbook.
He's clearly holding back so as to keep games competitive and save the meat of the playbook for the playoffs.
heck, we may not even see 25% of Saunders' playbook this year.

I think that swapping of picks can only occur if both teams finish in the 20-32 range. In other words, if Washington ends up with the worst record in the league, and Denver wins the SB, they aren't going to switch the 1st and 32nd picks.

There are probably a lot of conditions to the swap that the average fan doesn't know about.

That's pretty much the formula Donovan McNabb used yesterday against Tampa with Westbrook and McNabb is treated like a god. Not saying Brunell is close to McNabb but some of this is perception.

McNabb throws about as many passes behind the line, but unlike Brunell, he is good at completing medium-length passes.

Last year, Brunell got a lot of his stats from passes thrown behind the line, and he did remarkably well on deep passes. In between, he was pretty terrible. This year, he hasn't been able to hit the deep passes, and he's still pretty bad on medium-length passes. So all he has done well is the dink-and-dunk stuff, which doesn't help much when your defense can't stop anyone.

I wonder if those who thought Gibbs could "flat out coach" last year and who thought he was better than Parcells are rethinking their position now?

Good Post.

I've said it before, Gibbs WAS a very good coach, but a horrible personnel man. Bobby Beatherd put those teams together and Gibbs coached them. As evidenced by this year, Gibbs makes personnel decisions too much with his heart than with his head.

Also, his MAJOR downfall in this whole Gibbs 2 go-round was buying into the Snyder way of putting a football team together (I'll buy it) as opposed to the tried and true method of building through the draft.

He believed what was written about him and rode back into DC in glory, and as we see every week on the sidelines (head down, not watching FG attempts, looking panic stricken and basically not in a good place) he is OVERWHELMED by the pressure.

Your point about him not being the right man for the job is on point, because to do so, would be to admit complete, and unmitigated failure and waste of the past 3 years, and I don't even think he has it in him to see a process like that through.
