Whether Haden is his former self really isn't the point - it's how much confidence we have in Carroll. These rookies aren't going to be ready this year, and Brown sure as hell doesn't have me confident and has gotten burned this preseason as well.

If Haden is mediocre, he'll be better than Carroll and Brown.

I think this came down to how far he was willing to move his family. Pittsburgh is the closest to Ohio where i assume him and his family are living. Also the Steelers are contenders.
