I was all about bringing Haden in, but certainly not at that price. That Steeler defense has fallen a long ways from the dominant unit they were. When Big Ben hangs them up this is a team that could be down for several years.

Yeah I wasn't expecting that kind of deal...was thinking more like a 1 year $5M deal to prove he's healthy and still can play at a high level. Haden taking this kind of deal tells me he was just looking to cash in on the most $ available and not that he believes he's still a top CB.

I agree that was a bigger "yikes " for me than Haden getting 9 mill with prbly some escape clauses on that last year

Gotcha.

It's been 3 years since the guy has played the CB position at a high level and is now suddenly a difference maker for the Super Bowl.

My critique is of the philosophy of not signing free agents and only trying to build the roster with your own players. It's a fantastic idea, but not realistic, way too slow, and ineffective.

It would appear that our Front Office (and many fans here) are more concerned with being right than being great.
