I think that was a pandemic thing. pretty sure the main rule is that if you poach them you have to keep them on your 53 man for three weeks

I guess I'm just a stupid fan but I really thought he looked good enough that someone would've picked him up. Maybe seeing Russell Wilson as a rookie in the preseason all those years ago and correctly predicting he would be the Seahawks' starting QB that season messed me up. Haha!

Anyway, I'm glad Joe's back with the Cowboys.

I think it is more about the NFL landscape is currently littered with project QBs. With another very large draft class of QBs coming in 2027. Supply and demand. Milton like the rest of those QBs not overly valuable with the supply about to grow within a year.

I dont know if Milton ever pans out, even as a backup, but at least the 5th rounder and developmental work is not wasted. At least for one more season.

I'm not sure why people get butthurt over taking a flyer on Lance or Milton or Mingo etc!
Do they really think there's that much of a difference between a 4/5th rounder and an UDFA?

Doesn’t the emergency QB3 have to be on the 53?

He can’t be elevated from the PS on game day…if I’m reading the rule correctly

Any player under contract to a Club as a Practice Squad player shall be completely free to negotiate and sign a Player Contract with any Club at any time during the League Year... without penalty or restriction.

Thank you, I didn't know they ended that. Still, a team would need a QB injury to want Milton on their roster for 3 weeks I would think.

To be fair, maybe there were some offers, but he decided to stay in Dallas? I mean he was a free agent for over a day and the Cowboys certainly already made their pitch to him.

There were several offers but Joe had just demolished his mansion and they broke ground in Prosper for his new crib.

How many of those will be ready to play immediately though? Rodgers is retiring, Stafford & Cousins are quite possibly retiring. Given the dearth of true starting talent already, I don't see supply & demand being balanced (or even close) any time soon.

I would argue that old school draft & develop should be the path for NFL teams. Stop drafting them high & forcing them to play early. Teach them what the other pro league (college) isn't.
