Joe Milton to Eagles Active Roster

He beat the Buffalo Bills, while playing in New England, the kid has talent, he just needs to be a little bit more intelligent about it
You're basing this on one game? Why didn't Clint Longley make it?

There have been a myriad of one/two game wonders over the years. Not anywhere near enough data to come to a conclusion.

Milton has trouble w/ the playbook. As long as he can dump off passes or throw to his first read he can play. However, that's not often the case against real NFL D's.

I think its an ego/approach thing with Milton. I remember hearing rumblings.

I could be a thousand percent wrong, but am searching for answers. Not to say he was all world, but the logic still confuses me. We traded a pick to develop a guy, who actually appeared to be developing, only to let him go regardless.

Im not saying this is a huge loss. I just don't understand what we were doing with Milton in general. If it is about intangibles, ego and such it would help to explain how little he appears to be valued in general.
This stupidity will come to haunt the Cowboys. Milton will be all world now.

Im not necessarily claiming its a huge loss.

I just dont understand the thought process. You traded for him to develop him. He showed signs of development this preseason. So then you let him walk?

Yea, but look at the good news, Andy Dalton remains available, and we won't have to pay him much or give up anything for him. What a steal!

Milton is a perfect fit there. He cannot pass with my cinsistency, but he can run with the best of them.

For better or worse, I said just last week that the cowboys should try and trade Dak and let Milton finish out the year to see what they got... Either I'll be proven to be an idiot, or a great Qb evaluator... If Milton does shine somewhere else, I'm gonna be livid, but happy for Joe...

Sadly his contract will not allow that

Trading for him was the mistake. There was simply no reason to. QBs like Milton are a dime a dozen.

Point: It wasn't us who called you an idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think its Roseman first move to tank the season and move on from Hurts. I said in another thread that if they lose 2-3 of their next few games, he may shut Hurts down for the season. There were already questions about whether this would be his last season in Philly anyway. This injury and a possible losing season add fuel to the rumor.

Sidenote......I could see him with the Steelers or Bucs next season
They needed another body in the QB room. They tried to get Dalton back and he told them no after getting scapegoated for the pick (WR ran the wrong route)
If Milton sees the field they are screwed.
The next few weeks without Hurts will tell a lot. If McKee can operate in the confines of the offense it’s an indictment of Jalen, if the O looks the same it’s an indictment of the system.
The fact that the org didn’t extend Jalen told you it was a prove it year for him. Not ideal getting hurt but seeing another QB run the O will give them intel on what Jalen was doing.
Personally I don’t think he fits the system well and McKee will be more effective.

Cmon man, this goes back to Donovan McNabb. Hes the reason Jerry started to fall in love with mobile qbs, and why we ended up reaching for Quincy Carter.

He still can't help himself when we see an athlete at the position.

Come on, quarterbacks are thrown into the fire before they’re even ready
That’s today’s NFL
This kid having time to learn, I think he’s going to be an excellent quarterback, and that’s my opinion, and you’re welcome to yours

Hurts has been exposed as a subpar passer, and now can't stay healthy. Which is in the standard timeline for running QBs. They are generally good for 1-4 years. And then the injuries start piling up which makes them ineffective. Even the big exception in Lamar is starting to get hurt more often. He lasted a little longer than most runners, but appears to be hurt a lot more now.

At least we only gave up a 5th.

Of course.

Sure, but why?

I’ve seen signs of brilliance, and then I seen back to his old habits
If he could learn some poise, he could be dangerous
Fair enough!!!!

I'll give you this, the dude is a playmaker. What he needs is to learn to be more consistent, which means stop focusing on the first read and learn the playbook.

Hurts is generally healthy. This is a freakish injury (cleated, infected, clotted), and more than a few people believe the Eagles medical staff mishandled the situation. I'm betting the NFLPA looks into this.
