BS. The victims didn't deserve the events his personal failures very likely enabled.

RIP, anyway. Just a sad, sad set of events all the way around.

Wow, that was quick. At least it seemed quick.

He didn't seem to be in too bad of shape when he was greeting the fans outside his house.

I guess he had no choice but to willingly harbor a serial pedophile.

This whole story is just sad. I will continue to pray for the Paterno family and especially the victims of the abuse.

RIP.

But please, do not excuse his inaction.

Joe Pa's last events were of his own doing by covering up child molestation going on under his nose/program and knew about it for years and did nothing to stop it...

Um, he was a co-conspirator after the fact. Shed tears for the man if you wish, but let's not mangle the truth along the way.

That lung cancer is a monster, certain types swoops in and kill swiftly. My mom was gone a month and a half after they found her tumor. It grew so fast there was nothing anyone could do.

I had a friend who was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer and a week later she was dead.:(

Does kinda suck JoeP's life ended at such a low and disgraced point. He didn't even have a chance to try and redeem himself. He built an empire over a lifetime, was sitting on top of the world, then had it all taken away by poor choices from decades ago, and died a fairly broken man a few months later. However one feels about the case itself, this is a sad turn of events. There will probably be a movie about his life now. :(

Curley, Schultz, and McQueary are more at fault at covering it up then Joe Pa.

Anyways RIP.

Say what you will, but it's a sad day here in PA, the general feeling here is we hope Sandusky rots in hell for this, it's not a shock that he died shortly after being ousted, Football was his life. No one is excusing his inaction, but the BOT, AD and our current Governor are all more guilty in this. Those who want to cast stones, fine, just remember all the thousands of young lives he molded while running a clean program with a unbelieveable graduation rate. RIP Joe PA.

What a way to be partially remembered.

You're right, the whole story is just sad.

the stress of the events or a heavy heart certainly played part in Joe death. In any case - I don't believe Joe to be an evil man and left his mark in a positive way on thousands of men who are now successful in their lives. It was sad to see Joe go out on this note.

...nothing more needs to be said!

That's exactly what the media is doing and, in their zeal to be first with the story, we see that sometimes actual facts get pushed to the side.

Or in this case, CBS Sports was exactly right and the Paterno's lied, once again.

Geez, a death watch. How grisly. Maybe imbeciles like CBS, etc should wait until something happens before trying to be first. Breaking news is so more important than anything, even lives.

you mean miss an opportunity to scoop the rest and get the most hits? you mean give people dignity vs. getting hits also?

media quit doing that long ago.

Thank you.

This is a damn shame. He deserved better.
