Joe Paterno Has Passed Away

This is great news. Now he no longer has to suffer with cancer. Also, he doesn't have to suffer with the whole Sandusky nonsense. He is now at peace.

Say what you will, but it's a sad day here in PA, the general feeling here is we hope Sandusky rots in hell for this, it's not a shock that he died shortly after being ousted, Football was his life. No one is excusing his inaction, but the BOT, AD and our current Governor are all more guilty in this. Those who want to cast stones, fine, just remember all the thousands of young lives he molded while running a clean program with a unbelieveable graduation rate. RIP Joe PA.

I agree. Let the ignorant continue to cast stones at the man.

Bottom line is he was a good man with a good heart, and he impacted the lives of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of people and students positively. His contributions and his impact on almost everyone who ever was fortunate enough to come in contact with the man will never be forgotten. He's done so much good in this world, pretty much no one on this board and few people in this world will ever come close. RIP Joe. Your legacy of good will, will live on.

Joe Pa's last events were of his own doing by covering up child molestation going on under his nose/program and knew about it for years and did nothing to stop it...

He didn't cover anything up, he reported what he was told. I agree he didn't do enough but don't just make **** up.

I am so profoundly saddened by this. Everyone thinks he covered this up but they are wrong. He didn't go to the State or local police but he did report it to those whose authority it was to investigate. It wasn't Joe's job to investigate. He did what he was supposed to do.

He got to become the fall guy because the act of the REAL perpetrator were so egregious that people wanted the most visible guy to take the hardest fall he could. It was a shame and he was removed without due process. Heck, Sandusky is getting more due process than Joepa did. And these vultures not just on this board but those whose public outcry for Paterno's ouster are some of the worst people in America. Denying someone the opportunity to defend themselves is what our legal system is based on. You would think common courtesy would dictate that people would do the same in the court of public opinion.

Anyway, nothing that Paterno did or didn't do will erase or lessen what he did over his career as a coach or as a humanitarian. Anyone who thinks that it does has no credibility.

It would appear that you can die of a broken heart... RIP, Joe...

Sadly Sue will be proving this true once again before too long I fear.

You are completely clueless as to what you are talking about. Don't embarrass yourself by commenting further.

She is about 18 years younger than Joe but I am afraid you are right about this.

My Hoosiers just beat Penn State basketball team. I'm happy for the win, but sad for Penn State. I know the sports are different, but a win today would have been nice for Penn State nation. It's too bad the scandal seems to overshadow everything good the man did.

You're way off on this, Cajun, but this isn't the thread for explaining why.

He deserves the tarnished reputation, but this is a sad day for fans of college football, regardless.

Actually, I am dead on accurate.

I have voiced my displeasure of Penn State's officials inactions but I'll just leave it with this...RIP Joe Paterno and my condolences to his family and friends.

The man has just passed away . Wheather he did enough or not , this is not the time to debate it . Why can't everyone put aside the arguing and show respect for the man and his family ? Is that too much to ask?
