Clearly it is a failing on the part of Penn State.. not nearly as much blame can be laid on Joe from people that care about the facts.

You agree that alot of people could have done more.. but say not alot of people are Joe. That's true.. and Joe is one man, just like everyone else who could have done more but chose not to. It wasn't any harder for any other man or women who knew something about one of Sandusky's acts to come forward and at the very least.. tell someone what they saw. You know, kinda like Joe actually did. Imagine if everyone who knew something about one or more of Sandusky's acts had done the same..

As you said, his life's work of good deeds and charitable donations and helping the young men and women of that university go on to better lives will eventually outweigh this one bad decision he made.

This is BS. Joe Paterno was THE one man who could have done something, all on his own, to correct the situation if he wanted to.

I don't agree with anything you are saying here. It's best to leave it at that I think.

Agree to disagree then, i guess.

Like i said though, if all the people who knew something about any one or more of Sandusky's acts actually did what Joe did and told somebody about it, its ridiculous to think that it would have continued to go on as long as it did, imo.

..and actually, i apoligize, but you have me intrigued now.

I have to ask, what could Joe possibly have done all on his own to stop Sandusky in his tracks, and prevent any more abuse in the future?

You realize Joe never saw any of the abuses and was only told of one incident.. with a very vague description of what actually happened, right?

Yet you're telling me he could have stopped everything right then and there?

Your not very good at this agree to disagree thing.

I don't agree with you. Lets just leave it at that.

"You're"

I already said agree to disagree.. just wanted to point out one more thing.

A lot, not alot.

Now tell me, after this little grammar display, do you think anybody has been swayed one way or the other? I'm thinking not. In fact, I'm thinking people are probably reading this and wondering if we are grown adults or five year old children who have managed to gain access to Mom's laptop.

Well I was ready to completely hate Joe Pa until I how grammatically awesome @RoyTheHammer is lol

One thing that has always bugged me with this whole thing, is that nobody, and I mean nobody, is putting any blame on the grad assistant who walked in on the whole shower thing. The kid - and I use that term loosely b/c he was an adult - saw a little boy getting raped and told THE FOOTBALL COACH. He is just as guilty as Joe Pa.

I don't care if the man won a thousand games and 10 national titles. He chose his legacy and the reputation of the university over the safety of young children. It's absolutely disgusting that he not only turned his head the other direction, but allowed Sandusky a safe-haven for his serial pedophilia.

He's just as liable, if not more liable than Sandusky - because Sandusky was obviously a very disturbed man. Joe Pa in this case has no excuse.

He deserves his statue removed, legacy tarnished, etc etc. No way you can spin it.

Speaks volumes for the culture that was in place.

That guys, grown men, were more concerned about their job security and not rocking the boat - than protecting children from unimaginable actions. Which essentially goes right back to the top, and that falls on Joe Pa.

I would be totally humiliated and ashamed of myself if, when discussing the act of child molestation, people conclude I "could have done more" to prevent it.

I disagree. Many people think McQueary didn't do enough. I've seen him criticized. Now if you are referring to to legal issues, then no he isn't be blamed to that extent.

I agree that he is among the many guilty parties in this whole mess. I don't know how he could witness what he did and not question his superiors as to why Sandusky was still allowed to hang around campus. Plus he was a tool after this whole thing hit the news. He talked really big among his boys of how he handled things and then when put in front of the grand jury, he showed how mousey he really was.

The list of people in and around Penn St that failed these children is quite long.

I think you have to look at who had the most power to do something, and I think the answer was Joe Pa. You see how much of a god people thought he was even with the people still defending him. When you think of Penn State you think Joe Pa. I think other people should of came forward, but the guy with the most power should of stopped it. Covering it up is one thing, looking the other way, because you didn't want people to lose their jobs or rock the boat is another.

I just hope to God, he is rotting in a certain place at the moment.

interesting how much energy some put into protecting the reputation of a pedophile enabler.

I never believed Paterno was involved in cover up, but his inaction other than reporting an incident to his superiors enabled Sandusky to continue to rape little boys and because of that, I have no respect for Paterno.
