I agree Theezman is a tool.

But I can't say I really disagree with what he said about Williams.

Well, I have to agree with old "BrokeBack Leg" too! (although I detest him)!

It's the same with Crankcase...

I can't stand Theisman as an NFL analyst. I hope Dallas plays a lot more on Sunday night in the funure than on Monday. But Sean Taylor is at least as disgraceful as Ricky Williams. Where's the equal time?

Theismann hasn't done anything morally disgraceful. He is just as you said, a tool.

It isn't Ricky Williams or any professional athlete's responsibility to be a role model to kids. It is the parental responsibility to teach the correct morals.

As for his commentary, well, let's just say he is a hypocritical crumb, because I don't recall him ever calling teammate/coke fiend Dexter Manley a "disgrace to the game" and questioning his class or lack thereof.
I was about to write the same thing. If you're not going to rip Manley, there is no point in going after Williams.

It's not just that he said it about Williams BP, but why just Williams? Why not Dexter manley and all the other players that have destroyed their careers by using drugs?

I believe the reason Williams was an issue is because he signed with Toronto, who Theisman used to play for, and he was rankled because comparisons were made to him.

I detest Thesiman as a player and an announcer, but this is an instance where I agree with him for the most part. But I don't think Williams should be treated any different from any other NFL drug offender. If he's reinstated, he has a "right" to play in the NFL, no matter how much Joe T asserts that it's a privilege.

Regardless, from what they said on NFL radio today, the substance he tested positive for wasn't marijauana. I'm guessing coke? Tiki Barber said he didn't think an NFL owner would ever take a chance on Williams ever again, especially at his age.

Hardly.

According to Williams, this isn't the first time Theismann has ripped him. It sounds personal.

CFL | Williams not worried about Theismann's comments
Tue, 30 May 2006 13:11:02 -0700

Jeff Darlington, of the Palm Beach Post, reports Toronto Argonauts RB Ricky Williams isn't worried about Joe Theismann's latest harsh assessment of him. After all, Williams said Tuesday, May 30, he knows an apology will be forthcoming. After practice today, Williams noted that Theismann has often been critical of him in the past, consistently bashing anyone who is willing to associate with the controversial star.

However, Theismann reverses course when he sees Williams in person, the player said. "Every time he says something, here's what happens: He says a remark about me that's offensive, then when he has to (broadcast) one of our (Dolphins) games, he comes in and apologizes and says, 'I'm sorry,'" Williams said. Williams indicated that he would accept an apology from Theismann.
This is pure poetry. Theisman just got owned badly.

Why do I suddenly hope Ricky will be traded to the Commanders?

I havent seen the movie but pretty certain that the guys in Brokeback were ... Cowboys.

Thus the reason so many fans are referring to the Cowboys as the Brokebacks, or Brokeback Nation, Brokeback America's Team, etc.

Lets me tell you that I have never been a big Theisman fan. I think he was a decent to good QB but certainly not great (feel the same way about Phil Simms). And definitely not a fan of his booth work.

Williams to Manley comparison is fair on some levels , but I feel doubtful that Williams is illiterate. Overall I agree with Theisman in that Williams is a disgrace, he walked away from the game only to come back because of the over 8M he owed to the Dolphins, they accepted him back with open arms only to have him screw it all up again.

Dexter wasnt suspended for drugs until 89, the Commanders traded him to the Cardinals when he regained eligibility. In all fairness Theisman never knowingly played with the coked up Manley. Unlike say, Simms with LT.

I have not seen the movie either but I think they were sheep herders, not cowboys. And if you want to play the junior high word change game just remember the "cowboys" all but destroyed the indian nation. Along with their own stupidity.

Williams was suspended by the NFL for the entire 2006 season following a fourth positive drug test. But the Dolphins gave him permission to play this year in the CFL, and he signed with Toronto on Sunday.

Even money bet the NFL will colse this loop hole.
Where if the players goes to another league their contract is voided.

This would stop the teams from shipping their problems to the North.

As the QB of the team when Dexter and Joe where playing what was he going to say? Was he to go to the media and slam a member of the team? As a media person he is paid to give his comments.

Joe Theismann: "We have rules in the National Football League. It's real simple. Don't do drugs and you can play. It's a privilege to be able to play professional football. It's not some rite of passage." Theismann said.

What the heck does this mean? Rite of passage to where? How would doing drugs alter football into a rite of passage? Where is there any indication that anyone claimed that smoking dope while being a professional athlete was a rite of passage?

Norman Theismann doesn't even know what his own words mean...

As someone whose mother is 100% native american, I consider your ignorant comment somewhat offensive.

I am not playing thr Jr. high game, I am pointing out things that I have read and I am certain that several others on this board have as well.

Maybe they were sheep herders, I am sure at least one person on this board has seen the movie. I just saw the posters.

EDIT: I just looked at IMDB, and it states : "Plot Outline: Based on the E. Annie Proulx story about a forbidden and secretive relationship between two cowboys and their lives over the years."
