Joe Theismann: Any GM who trades for Tony Romo's 'damaged goods' should lose his job

Has the broken leg ever had any positive thing to say about the Cowboys? I am willing to bet there are some teams out there that are willing to roll the dice with Romo. I still go back to a team like the Broncos that have all the pieces in place but are not quite where they need to be at QB yet with TS. Why not bring in Romo knowing that if he's healthy they can be dominate and if he gets hurt, you bring in the young QB back in that still gives you a chance to win.

I think anyone but the Broncos would need to trade for Tony. Denver is the ideal landing spot and everyone knows it including Elway. I just don't believe for a second Elway will trade anything of value for Tony at this juncture .

Best to let Tony pick out of respect and clear him off the books.

If everybody believed as you do, they'd be happy to trade picks to get him, but alas, NFL executives aren't cowboy fans. Sadly for us.

Tony had the best cast of players he's going to find, yet he was hurt in 4 of the last 5 games he appeared. How you guys get this "years left" stuff is beyond rational thought.

Manning was hurt just as bad as Tony with that neck problem. He managed to play two additional years and won another SB. Just saying that
these guys are athletes and Tony is motivated to give it one more try. Denver might be his ticket to the big dance if they can hold that team together.

I'm really getting tired of these ex-players who hate the Cowboys in the first place, That have to give their opinion on the situation. Shutup

You missed the point of the thread. Tony wants to play and some team is going to bring him in to compete for a starting job if not give him the job outright. JT might be right that no team will trade picks (or anything else) for Tony and that's just the business of today's NFL. Teams will just wait out
Jerry until Jerry looks to save some money and releases Tony as a June 1st cut. Then you will see teams make offers to Tony just like what happened
to Manning. Tony can still play a year or two with the right cast of characters. Tony is not going to redo his deal so get that idea off the table too. He
will probably enhance his money come FA time. Not many worthy QB's out there on the market are there?

How did he miss the point of the thread? What he said seems in context with the thread.

Lots of hyperbole here. There is no way anyone knows for certain he is the same player after so many injuries.

That's pretty silly, no injury he has had has any impact on his ability to play the game...

Very silly indeed.

I would think we could get at least a 3rd, maybe even a 2nd based on performance.

But that is a discussion for the offseason

**** off Theismann, your Super Bowl was won off a nine game schedule.

Lots of GM's will be interested in Romo if he passes their physical and looks good in drills.

Again, shaddup Theismann. Your SB has an asterisk. And Riggins (who was twice the player and man as you) won the SB MVP.

Theezman is a moron who couldn't hold any of the premiere NFL analyst jobs he has been handed because, well, he's a moron, so it's pretty funny to me to read him bashing guys who actually work for NFL teams for moves they haven't even made yet.

Former Commanders quarterback Joe Theismann has said for months that Tony Romo should quit football. So it's not shocking that Theismann, who led Washington to a Super Bowl win in his 12 years with the team, thinks the guy he deems fragile isn't leaving Dallas.

"Let's put this Tony Romo stuff to bed, OK?" Theismann told Bleacher Report Radio. "The man's had three back surgeries, he has a collar bone that's been broken twice, he's 36 years old, he plays behind - the last couple years he played behind probably the best offensive line in football [and] hasn't finished a season in the last five.

"Any general manager that would make a deal for Tony Romo shouldn't keep their job as general manager. It's a bad business decision plus what offensive line is going to be the same one he has in Dallas?

You have to be careful with pedicle screws, they can break and when they do, you may have life long pain. Many people have had them break (one of the reasons I have not gotten my neck fused after a ruptured c3-c4) (I have plenty of occasionally painful bone spurs though that help stabilize the spine)) I would stick with the organization and enjoy life with less pain than risking the rest of your life with major pain. Tony has done well like other top quarterbacks. If was was Tony with my surgeries, age, and money, I would be looking forward to enjoying good retirement and having a back seat role at Dallas or maybe even a major role as one of the coaches.

Tony Romo went 12-3 in 2014. He went 3-1 in 2015.

Almost the exact same team from 2014 (and obviously the same in 2015) went 1-11 without him...

He makes any team he plays for a playoff contender. You put him on a team like Kansas City, Denver, NYJ, Houston... and you're probably super bowl bound.

I think he would help a lot of teams with QB woes, but the numbers and records you posted were pre-two of the injuries that are being referenced, and two years ago.

"I married football first , my wife and family comes second. that's the way it is and the way it always be." --Joe Thiesman

There's some actual truth to that with how a NFL player has to manage his time, but to come out publically throw your wife under the buss like that tells what a true A-HOLE he is. And of course his marriage failed.

In College, He also pronounced his family name from Theeseman to Thiesman so it would sound more like the Hiesman trophy. He's the single most overrated and biggest morons to ever play in the NFL.

Tony will go where he wants to go after June 1st..if he can still play. The NFL FO's know the situation in Dallas and if they are intèrested, and that seems very unlikely, they will simply wait until he is released.
