good, now they can stop airing those idiotic "Dallas lied and didn't draft me, and that's why I'm with the Steelers" commercials.

I don't pray much, but I'm praying the Cowboys jet is on its way to the airport nearest Joey Porter right freakin now. Nothing against Ellis or Carpenter, but if you've got a chance to bring in a guy like Porter, you do it.

Ware needs more plays off. He's on the field, either as the OLB or the Nickel DE every freakin' down. He needs every third or fourth series off. Carpenter came on last year and could be a really good starter in this defense, but that doesn't mean you pass on a guy like Porter. Ellis may or may not come back, and may or may not play the 3-4 OLB at the same level he did last year, there's just no way you can count on that.

I like Burnett, Ayodele, even Brady James as a run-stopper, but Porter is so valuable as a player and as a mentor and tone-setter for this defense, we don't have any choice but to make a run at him. Please, please, Joey, come to Dallas. I'll buy your jersey the day you sign deal, buddy.

Cowboys Sign LB James to Contract Extension

The Dallas Cowboys signed inside linebacker Bradie James today to a five-year, $20 million contract extension that includes an $8 million signing bonus.

Cowboys signed LB Akin Ayodele to a five-year, $17.5 million contract. The deal includes a $5 million signing bonus.

Cowboys signed Bobby Carpenter to a five-year, $12.5 million deal in July 2006.

And you guys want to sign a 30 yr old Lber who will want just as much money, when we don't have our starting RT signed or an a decent OG.
None of those contracts are outlandish.

I think Ellis is on a very cheap contract right now, relatively speaking.

HAHA. Sorry for the condescending tone. Being a jerk, I can't help it sometimes.

I apologize for that dog, sometimes I get a little emotional talkin about my boys. Thanks for getting me straight on the salary cap.

u actually thought Ellis was getting paid a good amount since he just signed a contract extension 2 years ago.. I really wish i knew what his contract was like.

Played 8 years in Pittsburgh and recorded 60 sacks and 10 INT's at OLB. Hard to ignore those kind of numbers. Jerry almost drafted him before, maybe he still wants him. I'd wait a few weeks though.

Thoughts...

to me this is a no-brainer, we've got the cap space; ellis isn't a long term solution for us there. carp might work, he might not.. he'd give this defense a motivational spark that a rookie would have a real hard time doing.
