Goodell is not doing this for ESPN, he has players in the league who have been very vocal about the NFL cleaning up it's act.

thats so obvious because he sure did come down on johnson and porter.

This is why knee-jerk reactionary suspensions like the great :)rolleyes:) ones handed down a few days ago are so awesome. Now everyone can get suspended for freaking everything. And then, if Keith Davis is shot, and doesn't get suspended for being awake early in the morning....everyone grab a broom, it's shennanigans.

You should suspend them.

Suspend who?

Suspend everybody.

:jerk:

i agree punk but if hes going to do it then he should at least be consistent. hes not though. im in to farness. if youre going to hose somebody then hose everybody otherwise your a chump.

I'm sure the league office is looking into the situation and the facts before they hand down anything.

yeah becuase the johnson issue happened BEFORE jones latest arrest and the porter incedent happened over 30 days ago whereas Henry and jones got hammered the day they released the new conduct contract.

Either Goodell is doing this because hes bowing to media pressure, hes slow and inept or both.

Well, then there should be no penalty for inciting riots if the person wasn't actually involved in the rioting. (breaking windows, theft, etc)
Porter was cited for misdemeanor battery, Jones was not...he was the victim here.

Sitting at a blackjack table and getting jumped by 7 guys is exactly like inciting a riot. Reach much?

That analogy is dumb. Might as well say, you shouldn't be jailed for attempted murder if murder didn't actually happen! First off, the altercation started IN the casino with both of them getting upset, not outside. Thats just were the physical attack ocurred.
You sound pretty silly. Its kind of like saying you should be suspended or reprimanded at your job because you got in an argument at a bar a couple nights beforehand. All you did was argue, then get your lights punched out.

That is a load of BS that he is doing it for the media, are you kidding? He has owners and players coming to him about cleaning up the league that is who he is accountable to.

Or maybe he waited until the conduct policy was official where both the NFL and NFLPA agreed on the basis for it BEFORE handing out sanctions to anyone. He acted swiftly once that was done.

I've read that the only thing holding up Johnson's discipline is the fact that he's in jail. That Goodell wants to meet with him as he did with Jones and Henry. But Johnson shouldn't count on playing this year either.

Haven't heard a think on Porter, but I wouldn't say it's the smartest thing in the world to poke the bear.

Lookit people - I'm a busy man. I'm juggling commissioning a league with my demanding schedule as a Geico spokesperson. I think it's unreasonable of you to expect me to administer punishment fairly, evenly, and have my priorities straight while dealing with on and off the field issues.

Please be more understanding in the future, because this NFL Commissioner gig is not so easy a caveman could do it. You've got to be at least "Carrot-top" quick.

Also, lets not forget it's already proven Levi Jones is a damn idiotic psycho already attempting to take an officer's nightstick in Houston after a bar fight.

If I'm in the NFL and am at a nightclub and a fight breaks out? I'm outta there without hesitation, and not stupid enough to stick around long enough for the police to get there and much less mug the guy of his nightstick.

Levi Jones = IDIOT!

well they didnt care when it was rae carruth killing someone, ray lewis involved in VERY similar circumstances where people were killed, Jamall lewis peddling cocaine or leonard little not only killing someone while drunk but going out and getting another DUI. If you dont think that them all of a sudden caring does not have to do with the media scrutiny they are under then i dont know what to telly ou. Its about money and how their collective image is being hurt for endosments and brand image.

I don't mind calling him. If he truly believes, if he feels like I was wrong, I'm sorry. I can apologize. I am reaching out now."
False regret, ignorance, disassociation and empathic drama--all wrapped up in one, nice 'innocent' package. Porter's a piece of work, alright.

Didn't we just have this discussion yesterday? The NFL is NOT the US Judicial system. Just like MSNBC is NOT the US Judicial system and do not have to abide by it's rules. Imus (and I'm not a fan) didn't break any laws, yet he is out at MSNBC. While Jones may not have started the actual melee, you would be out right lying if you said he didn't provoke it in any way.

He should be suspended period. This isn't a US district court, this a private entity trying to clean up its reputation.

Your digging up what took place in the past, for what ever reason players and owners are sick of the weekly problems taking place. I say better late than never. The league is changing and I'm all for it, it is about time

He shouldn't have ever let it get that far. Porter didn't just say, "Hey there is Levi Jones, lets jump him!" There was an altercation before this happen and the story even states that it started at the blackjack table.

So you think players should be suspended for talking?

If Porter comes up and talks trash to Jones, Jones should just hide his head under his arms to avoid suspension? But wait, if Porter spoke first, he should be suspended. Brilliant!

And so what if Jones said something first? Talking isn't a crime. Porter and his 6 goons were the ones actually cited by the police.

If you had this discussion yesterday you were wrong two days in a row. I'm lying about Jones inciting this?...yeah, one man instigating 7 guys seems plausible.

You are correct on the private entity, however while it is widely known what Porter and Imus did to deserve a suspension there has not been anything reported negatively about Jones role in this. I mean other than you saying he provoked it, but I choose to look at the facts and not distorted reality.

No, I don't. It is normal for people to argue or have disagreements. It is not normal to send 7 of your homeboys in there to fight. Streetwise it makes Porter look like a punk too. No matter how many emoticons you put in your posts, it doesnt make them any more valid.
