ESPN's John Clayton said on his Inside the Huddle segment that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones may wind up keeping Terrell Owens.
Clayton, who is all but alone in this sentiment, cites Owens' "1,000-yard potential." It's not potential, though, it's reality. Owens has posted fewer than 1,000 receiving yards just once since his rookie season. He caught 47 passes for 763 yards before being kicked off the Eagles in 2005. Feb. 12 - 2:28 pm et

It's funny how after Ware comes out and contradicts what all the mediaheads are saying that you get a "well...on second thought" type of article.

It's hard to argue with a guy that's in there day in/day out.

His "potential" is irrelevant at this point. He could be a 2,000 yard receiver and it wouldn't change the fact that he has to go. We're not a mercenary outfit, Jerry.

only reason we keep TO is that his contract is astronomical

in all reality, Jerry ****ed himself, and he may not mind it anyways, that's our owner folks

Do i think TO's shelf life has expired here? YES! Do i think Jerry will eat the bonus cash and try and replace TO with whats out there for a cheap price tag? NO! Jerry has stayed the course on the coaching front for the most part and i would imagine he'll bring back the same cast of characters on the roster as well. Might be a Roy or Henry or Ellis type or two let go, but my opinion all along based on Jerry's GM style is he'll try and keep things as close to pat as he can. I believe, Jerry believes this team is much closer to the 13-3 team of 2007 than the 9-7 team of 2008 and he may be right. I don't think he is but he's the owner.

cut Brad,Roy and others and you can make up the cap room and there are other ways to do it. the reason we keep 81 is cause Jerry thinks it can work and because he keeps the boys on espn.

:lmao:

So the media stirs up BS about TO being cut and now they'll start writing about how he'll probably stay. Wasn't it just last week the majority said he was as good as gone?

And yet people keep citing their BS as facts...:lmao:

And, as other have said, getting rid of TO may cause as much ill will as keeping him, in Jerrys mind anyway.

that's another thing, if To is cut, half the roster or so becomes sour

that's the problem with hiring TO, a good portion of any roster becomes attached to him

oh why didn't Jerry just let him play out his current contract??

I agree 100%. If Jerry felt he needed to appease TO via his contract, he should have moved more salary into bonus cash and played it by ear in FA. But, giving TO the big bucks just shows where Jerry's mind is reqarding TO. Do you really think Jerry would even consider getting rid of TO if there weren't people in the organization and a few players on the team that think he's a cancer?

As far as we know, he isn't considering it.

so you don't hear about and it means it isn't true?

can you show me a precedent where an owner publicly debates whether to get rid of a player or not please?
