I or (we) can only hope that:
Lombardi
Schefter
Glazer
King
are correct, especially Lombardi. He pretty much said it's "if", not when. Also, he pretty much put his reputation on the line to a degree.
I still think he's gone. In my opinion, Jerry Jones had better play his cards right on this one. If he doesn't, he's going to pay a heavy price on and off the field, imo. The consequences will linger for years, imo.
I would be happy with a 4th or 5th round pick after shipping him to Oakland, perhaps, the only other team that would even have him.
Jerry Jones hasn't squashed the "cut Owens" talk, and he could have done it by now. So, there is hope. Perhaps, he wants all the credit after he cleans things up. That is a positive theory, anyway.
If Jones actually goes against the majority after being isolated, it will get ugly. I still think that Stephen Jones and Jason Garrett have tremendous power in this equation. Furthermore, Tom Ciskowski will have influence as well.
If it were me, I would tell Jerry to go coach the team if he forced Owens back on my roster. Owens' inability to get separation from some of the better cornerbacks spells mediocrity in the future and more hits on Tony Romo while he holds the ball and has to listen to Owens gripe.
