This is a great day for America. Madden was good with Summerall way back in the 90's but now he just sucks. Good Riddance. Him and Favre can finally consumate their relationship.

Collinsworth replacing the legend? Weak. Very weak. Chris is Doug and Wendy Whinner's kid - he's like fingernails on the chalkboard - just plain irritating. However, it could be worse - Dan Marino was available.

I will really miss the Coach.

I said a while back that I have a friend who works for Sunday Night Football as a broadcast engineer. He told me last year that it was expected that this past season would be his last one. My friend told me that he really struggled the past few years and even had his good friend John Robinson in the booth with him to help him organize and feed him info for use in the broadcast. He suggested to me that some suspect he has early signs of dementia.

It's a sad day for football. I always loved Madden.

The irony is that a lot of retirees around Madden's age tend to buy a camper and travel around the country.

I will miss him.

People sit here and complain how much he loves Farve but back in the day he used to just go on and on about the Cowboys OLine.

When John sees a player he really appreciates he does that. That is who he is.

It is a sad day if Collinsworth is replacing him!

I have heard from a friend in broadcasting (camera man) who said that JM had struggled with some "health ailments" in the last year or so. This isn't meant to be a newsflash, so put your spears up all you link biters. No, he didn't specify what kind of ailment(s), but I'm sure traveling on a bus all over the country takes its toll on a person, let alone someone in his 70's. Happy trails JM.

Whoa this is heavy ;) But anyway back to the present.

Damn this really does suck. I am going to miss his personality. I think Troy would be a perfect fit and Fox could put Moose with Buck. But I highly doubt that happens.

On another note. I doubt EA sports changes the Madden name. To much of a money maker at the moment.

I like Madden and Summerall the best.

2. Madden and Michaels.

3. Aikman and Buck.

I think Madden should have chose to do a few games a year and not retire.
Eh.. change is good.

i hope Collinsworth gets the gig, ive always liked his commentary and analysis, the last person i would want is Aikman. all Aikman does it talk down to the listeners like we havent a clue about football. plus his amazing love affair with the eagles and skins.:starspin

As much fun as it is to make fun of him, I grew up listening to him. This makes me sad.

Collinsworth is good. The only problem is his voice is annoying.
