Name me another teams 3rd TE....he was a luxury. I doubt our offense is gonna suffer because our 3rd string te is out. If anything im glad it didn't happen to a starter.

In our offense he wasn't a luxury. We run loads of two tight end sets and it was very possible we wouldn't even carry a fullback because he could handle that position as well from a blocking standpoint. This isn't awful, but don't think it doesn't mean anything because it does. This hurts the team without a doubt.

you are lost!

"Child please" keep that post count nice and low because this thread shows how absolutely clueless you are about this team.

Its about alot more than just a third T.E. First of all Phillips was outperforming Bennett and challenging him for his starters spot in the twin T.E formations. Second of all, with everything we have read and seen it appears that Phillips is a true stand up guy, a team guy. Stuff like that is important when putting together a super bowl type team. Players willing to give it their all have a positive effect on the rest of the team. Can we get by and move forward without Phillips? Sure we can, because this team is loaded with talent. But we surely would have been alot better off with him than without him, thats for sure.

I have an optimistic point of view on the John Phillips injury, and in no way am I naive about the impact this will have on our team. Players like Phillips help you win games, period.

Here goes: if injuries to key guys (like Phillips might have been for us this year) start to pile up, then yes, our season could be in jeapordy... but if you can't overcome the loss of your 3rd TE/situational FB-HB, you simply don't deserve a championship.

Tell you something else.......Bennett has the potential to be an outstanding blocker, but he will never be a great receiving threat. Average at best, maybe slightly above average. Does anybody really watch him play, REALLY?? I dont get where people come up with all this baloney about him being soooooooooo athletic and all, Ive never seen it myself. Truth of the matter is, ...Bennett is pretty klumsy/oxey as a pass receiver. At times he looks like a new born deer, all legs and trippin and stumbling all over himself. Doesnt have the right body style to ever be a graceful receiver.

This too is 100% TRUE.

Just.........Rude!

I don't get it. Is OP asking Philips for a baby? Can we do that with players on here?

do you have to be a zone supporter?

Is there a point to this thread or are you just spouting off to see yourself talk?

For a team that sucks in the RZ he could have been very helpful.

I find it funny when people downplay an injury to a guy who actually plays in games. There is a reason he is playing in the game and you lose that reason when he is injured.

If Marcus Dixon gets injured it's still a bad deal for the Cowboys because he is a developing player, but it isn't as bad as someone who actually gets on the field.

I really like Phillips. With our depth at TE his lose shouldn't hurt us, unless Witten or Bennett also go down, but it still sucks for him. He definitely has alot of potential to be a quality contributor in this league.

You don't know what you are talking about...he was a valuable blocker from the FB position and he was turning into a reliable receiving threat. Not the mention the fact that he was a very good special teams player. His loss will be felt.

We'll see how you feel when Bennett misses a block that gets Romo injured or A Bennett injury happens. I could understand a third string linebacker or Wr because we have many, but that was a pretty big loss.

Did you even watch the game the other night before he got hurt? Dude, he was making phenomenal catches! I didn't realize you were a hater. He was making better catches and running better routes than Bennett ever has.
