UFA next year. Resigning him while trying to extend Zack is going to be complicated. He's playing well, but I hope he doesn't get to expensive. Want to maintain continuity, bit if Coop gets a Leary type of contract we have to move on.
He’s not gonna be that expensive. He is where he needs to be for career and he is not gonna be a hot commodity with his history

I don't think that will happen. Leary was good and is still good with the Broncos. Coop hasn't really been good with the other teams he's played with. He is looking like a first round pick because he is between Smith and Fredbeard. Any team, including the Cowboys, would be crazy to give him a large contract. His best bet would be to sign a team friendly deal so he can play with the monsters up front.

Don't sweat it. The cap room is there and Cooper won't command big bucks. The Cowboys OL should be kept together and dominate for several years.

More worried about singing Martin. Then franchise for Lawrence, with a deal for Irving following after that. Cooper ought to get a reasonable deal for a couple of years getting paid like a starter. If he's smart, he takes the gig in Dallas.

As much as people want to see us be players in FA, when you hit on your picks and long-term VFAs like we have been, it's hard enough signing your own guys. Whiffing on a couple of mid-tier VFAs could be the thing that ends up costing you somebody in-house you prefer to keep.

I've been a Jonathan Cooper fan since his UNC days so I was thrilled when the Cowboys made him their reclamation project.

That being said, they really tried to give the job to Chaz Green, so if Cooper were to price himself out of Dallas' desired price range, they'd just go with Green again and let Cooper walk.

We must bring back Lawrence, Irving, Cooper, and Hitchens next year, as well as sign Martin long-term. Those should be our priorities, address the rest in the draft.

We have ways to keep Lawrence (franchise) and Irving (tender). Martin's option for next year has already been picked up. We can live without Cooper and Hitchens, although I'd like to see Cooper back. I still want to see an upgrade or two in the Secondary and a legit 1tech.

Martin is looking for big bucks. Maybe the highest paid OL title. Will JJ do it, or draft his replacement.?

Good thing is we'll know before the draft so if he does leave, we can draft a guard in mid rounds.
