Statemnt on #Browns Manziel entering treatement: "Brad Beckworth, friend and advisor to Manziel and his family, has confirmed that Johnny..

...entered treatment on Wednesday. Johnny knows there are areas in which he needs to improve in order to be a better family member, friend.

..and teammate and he thought the off-season was the right time to take this step. On behalf of Johnny and his family, we’re asking for..

Johnny Manziel has entered treatment to work on "areas in which he needs to improve in order to be a better family member, friend and teammate," according to a spokesperson.

CLEVELAND -- Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel entered treatment on Wednesday, adviser Brad Beckworth told ESPN.com through a Manziel spokesman.

"Johnny knows there are areas in which he needs to improve in order to be a better family member, friend and teammate and he thought the offseason was the right time to take this step," Beckworth said.

"On behalf of Johnny and his family, we're asking for privacy until he rejoins the team in Cleveland."

Browns general manager Ray Farmer said in a statement that they support Manziel's decision.

What the hell is this? Is it treatment for being an ***? Why don't they mention alcohol or substance abuse during the article? Is this the new PC way of dealing with things or is it a public image move by his agent?

Yeah, I wonder if it is alcohol or drugs, or both? They are usually more specific.

Have to wonder, and I am sure it will come out in time...

Was this just a PR move to revamp his poor image in order to get him to be taken more serious by the Browns and give him a better chance a starting job.

Or

If we later find out he has been in trouble with the league with a drug test (alcohol or other drugs).

No matter the truth behind it....still so happy we took Martin over Johnny.
As big as it has been in the press with the Browns it would have only been amplified by a factor of 10 (being generous) if he was drafted by the cowboys.

Only thing he forgot to add was " and to protect the mega $$$$ he would lose otherwise"

Manziel and Gordon are so immature and the atmosphere around Cleveland isn't going to help either one out. Both need some strong veteran role model and its sad for two grown men to need that but they do

He comes across as an arrogant jerk so hopefully this wil humble him as well in addition to his medical issues.

I loved watching him in college even though he rolled my Tide. He was just a fun guy to watch.

If the anti-Romo and pro-Manziel crowd (and, no, they were not all one in the same) hadn't been so mean-spirited about it last year I wouldn't sometime want a long list walk-of-shame thread to show up at times.
lol

Seriously, it got pretty ugly around here by some spanning from pre-draft all the way through the SF game.
But that's behind us.

This is not saying we shouldn't take a QB at some point--I would have even been willing to take Mettenberger in the middle to late rounds last year--but Johnny Football would have been disastrous.

Was never a fan of his game, always thought he was the "classic College" Quarterback and certainly glad People talked Jerry out of drafting this guy but hope he gets the help he clearly needs..

Johnny Football is in rehab.

Johnny Manziel, the Heisman trophy-winning quarterback who endured a rocky season after being chosen in the first round of last year's NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns, has checked himself into a treatment center, according to a statement from the team.

"Brad Beckworth, friend and advisor to Manziel and his family, has confirmed that Johnny entered treatment on Wednesday," read the statement. "Johnny knows there are areas in which he needs to improve in order to be a better family member, friend and teammate and he thought the off-season was the right time to take this step.

I will never understand why teams use high draft picks on QBs that don't pass the mental/character requirements.
