Those people aren't friends, simply leeches. They are there for the ride instead of being real friends.

You don't know that, .. that is not always the case.

Sometimes with a single guy, .. close friends from college or even high school continue to hang out with each other. If long-time buddies are going out on the town, or just out for some drinks, .. it is hard for the one with a drinking problem to stay home and not go.

Those guys are not leeches, they could be his best friends.

Ever heard of Chris Herren?

A real friend would shut you down and be willing to lose you as a friend.

No, never heard of Chris Herren.

Yea, right, ... that happens all of the time. I'm always hearing about life-long friends telling life-long friends that they won't be hanging out together any longer because "I think you have addiction issues, .. it's for your own good."

Maybe in a perfect dream world.

He has to decide what is important to him...what he wants in his life.

He's a rich kid & I suspect will never want for anything but at some point he either grows up or burns out.

What investment? He was selected near the bottom of the first round. He wasn't even their first pick in the draft. They cut bait with Richardson within 2 years, and he was the third overall pick in the draft.

They didn't cut bait they traded him.

They traded him a year later. That is unprecedented for a top 5 pick. They gave up on him.

OK. You said they cut bait and I said they traded him That means they got something in return for their investment. There is a big differenace between the two.

All for show, and likely a preemptive move so the Browns don't come after his money when he gets busted in the future.

The investment in draft picks and time can't ever be replaced. Pay doesn't matter.

You are correct that the draft pick and the time already put in cannot be replaced. That shouldn't hold them hostage for their future. If at some point they think the best option is to move on from him then they shouldn't waste more time on him just because they used a draft pick to acquire him.

I agree with that but I would be shocked if he weren't with the team this year.

At some point you realize that no matter how many resources you sink into investment, it will never pan out. Johnny is already wearing out his welcome with the staff and his teammates, and he has only thrown 35 NFL passes. I don't expect them to cut him this year, but if has another season where he can't even call plays in the huddle, they will probably move on.

Not saying that the Dallas Cowboys ever felt this way, .. but I can remember fans from other teams talking about Dez (like we are Manziel) and saying stuff like the Cowboys should just get rid of him, .. he's not worth the trouble, he's too immature, accident waiting to happen, etc. etc., on and on.

So we'll see what the Browns feel about Manziel moving forward.

Patience and perseverance has paid off for the Cowboys.

Right, but Dez never had film room or preparation issues. He never showed up drunk from the night before.
