Jonathan Cooper?

Agreed.

I'm still not sure we won out in that Switzer vs Ward trade, but at least it was a player for player rather than a draft pick.
Both teams won. We simply didn't have more WR space. Team just liked Austin and Beasley more as the same type guy.
Ward may not do much here but he at least is making this roster and playing in the rotation.

For the Raiders that was all reversed.

I blame you for this error. If Chaz Green gets Dak or Zeke killed, I will find you and make you watch 2000-2002 games on a loop.
Lol.. NNNOOOO.. Sad thing is that a few years ago I watched Chaz fill in for Tyron and he actually did a good job. I was down for keeping him as depth even though he had injury problems. I don’t know what happened. But if he is put in this line at any position now, then I will be watching 2000-2002 games on loop. He is just looking worse. Do you think they will keep him now there is a few injuries to our starters?

I think at this point he's just a warm body and they will replace him at cuts. Just another failed 3rd round OL from this 2000-present era Cowboys team.

I would see what shakes loose in the cutdowns for a true center. Cooper may now the system but is he smart enough to make the line calls not to mention he was slightly above a JAG when T smith was not next to him.

Maybe he can go into coaching. It seems if the staff likes you then you never leave. I never cared for Kellen Moore but Linehan likes the kid. He was NEVER going to be even a backup. But now he QB coach. Maybe Chaz can be hydration assistant. He can’t have hydration manager because I am going out for that job. Next step for me after that is the director of hydration.

Might take much more than Ealy. Isn't Jonathan Cooper a starter? If so, it would take at least 2 players (Ealy and probably someone like Datone Jones), plus a mid-to-late round pick to trade for Cooper since he's a starter and was a 1st round draft pick (which he finally proved somewhat last year while with the Cowboys). The 49ers aren't just going to give him away, especially since they now know we are desperate.

I think we've got a few DL we might could swap in a trade, even give them Chaz Green along with whatever DL to at least give them a backup lineman option (although I think Green would have to be a throw-in).

The best bet for trade bait might be someone like Tapper because he still has untapped potential.

I'm all for this because Cooper would be at least a good utility option.

We should have never let Cooper go in the first place. Even if we did plan on drafting a guard all along, having him available, especially in times like right now, would make me feel better about the season opener.

Considering the contract he received, I agree. He and Williams could have fought it out for the starting spot, and then we would have had him as the primary backup instead of essentially swapping him for Marcus Martin.

Of course, the Cowboys probably believed that they were just as well off with Martin, which wasn't going to be the case from what I saw of Martin.

You and the OP are correct. He is a backup. I thought he was a starter? I was wrong.

In that case, possibly a player like Ealy or Datone Jones, plus a late round pick might do. I still say the 49ers will not simply let him go without milking us.
Cooper didn't participate in PS game 1 due to recovering from injury.

He was dressed for PS game 2.

The Niners would have to eat the 2M signing bonus. His total compensation is 5M (2M SB plus 3M salary).

It is possible that if he does not win the starting job that they might decide to unload the remaining 3M salary and get a late pick. Considering his ability to play all 3 interior spots, it's seems doubtful the Niners would trade him but I don't know the details of their other options.

Not for a pick, but for a comparable player like Ealy maybe.

Thats like the SF forums saying lets trade Cassius Marsh(who wont make their team) for Fleming. You accepting that?
Are we really going to stress giving up a 6th or 7th? Come on people.

I think you might be overvaluing Jonathan Cooper.

I can take or leave him if he's a street free agent. If he's going to cost a pick, I'd just as soon get a player from the waiver wire. Which is why I suggested Ealy, because he's an equivalent player on the other side of the ball.
