Why would San Fran, or any team, deplete their own OL depth for a late round pick two weeks before the season?![]()

I think you might be overvaluing Jonathan Cooper.
I can take or leave him if he's a street free agent. If he's going to cost a pick, I'd just as soon get a player from the waiver wire. Which is why I suggested Ealy, because he's an equivalent player on the other side of the ball.
lol, let a player walk then trade for him.
Situations arise.lol, let a player walk then trade for him.
Was upset on draft day with that trade. Switzer is going to be a player in this league.Cowboys lost in that trade BIG TIME.
Ward might not even make our 53.Both teams won. We simply didn't have more WR space. Team just liked Austin and Beasley more as the same type guy.
Ward may not do much here but he at least is making this roster and playing in the rotation.
For the Raiders that was all reversed.

Coopers contract he signed was roughly 2x that of Flemmings.
Youre undervaluing Cooper.
A waiver wire pick up has a very small chance of playing up to the level Cooper did last year for us. A 6th or 7th for a starter is chump change.
Also why would you leave someone on the street who is better than one of our starters?
I know..weird, huh?Why would San Fran, or any team, deplete their own OL depth for a late round pick two weeks before the season?![]()

Better go back and look at recent history. The Cowboys are terrible at trading.
He wasnt relegated to backup duty, he was injured. So that's not remotely true. What SF signed him for on a 1 year veteran deal as an expected starter is not the measure of his market worth now that he’s apparently relegated to a backup job.
They guaranteed $4MM of that deal, so they won’t likely be cutting him, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be comparable players out there who won’t require draft pick compensation.
Disagree that the guy we let walk last season to go play for his fifth team but who didn’t win a starting job there is a significant upgrade over the best of the other VFA likely to be available. Cooper is going to be a VFA next year with creaky knees and his history of having been a top ten pick 8 years ago looking for his sixth team.

Yes it does.
Again I guess you arent up to date on the subject.
Answer this. We have Looney starting at center for us. Who beat out Looney for a starting job just last year? This shouldnt be hard to see my dude.

Looks like this is your standard reply. Genius.
"LLLOOOLLL"
Answering youWhat’s the distinction you’re trying to make between being a backup because of his play and being a backup because of yet another injury? And how does it make the possibility of him being relegated to a backup role then become not “remotely true?” A backup is a backup, and there’s a very real possibility he’s going to lose his starting job, again. Not because of injury, either.
As for Looney, you answer me this: which player is still on our roster and which is looking at sitting on yet another bench on yet another team? If you want to trade a pick for a guy you let walk, that’s on you. There will be comparable players available on the street.
They just traded Eli Harold to Detroit so getting Ealy would give them a replacement with what they already haveNot for a pick, but for a comparable player like Ealy maybe.
