Jones can't evaluate talent

The jones boys and McClay can’t evaluate talent. That’s why they keep taking offensive lineman. It’s a safe pick. They are afraid to take a chance on a skill player. We needed a Running Back. If they don’t pick one in the second round we know they had no plan.
If you’re suggesting that taking Hampton at #12 would have not been a “safe pick”, then I would agree with you.

That is what you were suggesting, right?

A little rich for a guard, but the correct player. We got the pick right. Best guard in this years crop. I'll take it. I'm encouraged.
i dont doubt he's a great guard will probably be perennial pro-bowler but we had other needs at skill positions and DL. we have hoffman + jag's.

You can build the trenches in free agency. They had already picked up a veteran guard and they still got Hoffman. All this pick does is tell me they regard guyton has a bust. Jerry said it last night. When he said this increases the chances of a solid oline.
I agree there was a better way to replace Zach Martin nor do I think G should have been the top priority at pick 12, but this pick has nothing to do with Guyton. They play totally different positions on the OL. Its too early to call him a bust even though he did kinda suck last year.

I have not read the entire thread yet, so my apologies if someone else corrected the title from:

Jones can't evaluate talent

to

Jones has never evaluated talent

It is not the Mad Genius' expertise.

I know Will McClay was smiling last night because he got another easy and safe pick that will continue to boost his 1st round record. It probably won't make a difference in January but who cares...it still counts as a 1st round hit!

The whole crew cant.

Thats why we have to over draft OL players. And even fail by doing so.

- Tyler Smith first rounder to replace our LT. Bust, has to play LG.
- Tyler gyuton, next try for LT. Was benched. Cant be used in the interior. Major bust so far

now a 12th overall pick on a RG? The least important position on the OL. This is so embarrassing to be a fan of this franchise.

You cant win with this kind of incompetence.
Tyler Smith. The player who, in his first two seasons, is a 2x pro bowl and 1x all pro.

You called him a bust.

You’re just trolling.

1st Round Skill Position Players going back to 2008
Mo, Dez, CD, Byron, Zeke, Felix, Jenkins

So if they took a RB in round 1, most likely you would be the opposite and say, it was stupid to take a RB in round one, they should build the trenches.
There was no rb worth taking there. Frankly the best value or bpa would have been one of the guys on the defensive line or Tyler Warren.

Booker will be a good player for a long time and upgrades the spot instantly and am satisfied with the pick. My only issue is I think Hoffman or Bass would have been fine in that spot this year and could have gotten a bigger upgrade at another position.

That ship has sailed. We've mostly sucked over the last 3 years.

As the OP suggested, Booker is a safe pick. He'll be a top 10(or better) OG for the next 10 years.

Now it'll be WRs and CBs. And we'll lose because we can't stop the run.
That has been our MO for years, but Eberflus had the Colts pretty good against the run. However if we take a DT next pick, think fans be awfully pissed. :)

What RB/WR was available at 12? The next RB after Jeanty was Hampton and he went 22nd. McMillian gone, next we Golden goes 23rd.

So grabbing either of those guys would have shown to be a major reach. Am I right ?

The problem I have with the OL picks lately is they suck. And when they don't suck, they can't figure out how to win with them. We've had superior OLines just yesteryear, and yet, here we are at the middle of the draft doing it again. This franchise is just going round and round with no way out.

You think Barkley getting 2000 yards was because of they line
Certainly had something to do with it...Sanders, etc, had success running behind them as well. Don't debate otherwise, it plays a huge factor yet doesn't take how solid of a back he is. Take it one step further: strong D, WRs. There is a reason the Iggles won and it wasn't just their RB
