Jones can't evaluate talent

The jones boys and McClay can’t evaluate talent. That’s why they keep taking offensive lineman. It’s a safe pick. They are afraid to take a chance on a skill player. We needed a Running Back. If they don’t pick one in the second round we know they had no plan.

What RB/WR was available at 12? The next RB after Jeanty was Hampton and he went 22nd. McMillian gone, next we Golden goes 23rd.

So grabbing either of those guys would have shown to be a major reach. Am I right ?
I think many of us are still butt-hurt for not getting Henry last year. I understand the desire for a powerful running game again. The successful Cowboys have always had a stellar running game.

Not really. Fans need to realize what JAG players truly are. That term is floated around way too often, because many fans want to complain there are not pro-bowlers at ever position.
Forget PB. Are any of them top 10 at their position (aka are they among the top 1/3 of all starters)? I would say pretty clearly no.

Trench selection was the right mindset.
Position chosen was an epic failure.

Tyler Booker ain't stopping the run, this team's most desperate need.
Already have a boatload of interior linemen onboard.
Fail.

We needed a Running Back.
The top back was off the board and it would have been stupid to reach for a back at 12. Part of our running game woes are due to the OL. We got a potentially great player up front and with this being a deep RB group we might find one in the 2nd round.

12 was too high for Hampton and there will be guys available in the 2nd. If they finish today without a new RB on the roster, I'll be pissed, but adding power and attitude to the interior line will open up holes for whoever they bring in. I just hope they don't get cute and try to shoehorn Sanders into that role without addressing the position further.

Yup.

Need that RB1.

I thought we would go RB then RG.

But TB was too good to pass on.

Dude will be elite.

Far different back then.
No salary cap.
They had what was called Plan B FA, but it was still limited. Teams put, I think 6 players on a list that could be a FA. That is how they got Novacek.
Atlanta thought Tony Casillas was a bust. Jimmy traded for him. Haley was considered a head case, SF wanted to part ways.

It wasn't like there were hundreds of FA's as there is now. They had the low end of what teams thought were players that were going to be cut anyway. That was the Plan B FA.

12 rounds in the draft, and a butt load of draft picks. Jimmy could not go wrong bu to build a team fast. Especially from the team and players he inherited. He started gutting the team from the start.
Far different situation than now.
I agree it was far different than now. I think it's easier to build a team faster now. There was no salary cap, but Dallas wasn't the highest paid team. I remember someone pointing that out awhile back. They were somewhere in the middle ion '92 and '93.

They certainly have plans.

I like what I'm seeing with Booker. Elite production in the SEC and a physical monster. Should be an immediate upgrade at RG with massive upside. Great attitude and personality, probably a future team leader, if he doesn't become one this season. I think we got a great one here.

Taking CeeDee lamb when the WR was not the need and DB was the need. Not an Olineman.

Taking Zeke over Ramsey when DB was a need, not an olineman

Taking Mazi Smith, not an Olineman.

Taking Taco Charlton, not an Olineman

Taking Leighton Vander Esch, not an Olineman

Taking Trysten Hill, not an olineman

Taking Micah Parsons, not an Olineman.

Yep...they only take Olineman with the first pick because they are afraid and can't evaluate other positions.
