I didn't read all of them because I keep you on ignore. Now I recall why.

Wow, just wow. What are you, like...10 or something? You would actually put me on ignore because we disagree about a particuliar subject? In the past, did I ever disrespect you or make fun at the way you write? It's not like I really care but I am a little surprised with your response.

You have to understand the type of person I am. I'm a strong believer in critical thinking and I try to approach every subject here on this message board using that skill with my responses. I'm not always right (as Kilyin will attest to when he corrected my grammar) but I'm a strong believer in my convictions - and my integrity is equally important.

With this subject matter, I tried to approach it from a philosophical standpoint regarding money but my true intent was to insist our owner be well-grounded (humbled) and show an understanding with what helped get him to the position that he currently resides. Perhaps I'm too much of a sentimental ol' school kind of guy - but I strongly believe in what's right. If you had watched the Cowboys back in the 70s with the same passion that I did, perhaps you'd have a different point of view as I do.

So go ahead and keep me on ignore but know this - I'll be right here waiting for you with open arms whenever you think you're ready to debate me again.

Been watching them since 1965 I love Tom Landry but I can't find fault in Jerry wanting to do what is right by this franchise. Jerry has shown time and again he will step up to the plate for this franchise so money he makes will be reinvested in this club.

I'm not asking you to. I'd prefer that you entertain the idea I presented earlier with the stadium naming rights rented to a corporate sponsor for mega-millions and the field being named after Landry.

What do you think?

draegerman. Where is it I said Jerruh was desperate for money? NOWHERE. You just made that up. WHAT I SAID is that Jerruh had to plan for future renovation and maintenance of the Stadium. Common stat among engineers is that any large building will need a facelift or major work in 10-15 years. Also it is figured that that cost is usually about 20% of the cost of the building. Counting inflation that comes out to at least $300 million in 10-15 years for that stadium. Borrowing money is not a good thing to try and project since you have no idea what interest rates will be in 10-15 years. The SMART thing to do is to have the money ready to go when you need it. That is where the naming rights to the stadium come in.

Not really. I guess you could have accused me of that if I had written: "It's obvious to you that Jerry desperately needs a sex change in the next 10 - 15 years, right?"

Then you'd actually have a leg to stand on. But the truth is that I used the adjective "desperately" to sum up the theme of your post. I took a writer's liberty of doing this because that's how you came off sounding. Now if I had put the word in quotations, once again, you'd have a better leg to stand on. But I didn't and yet, you still did...feel me?

In case that isn't very clear, here's an example that should seal the deal:

If you wrote -

And I change it to read:

Again, you'd have a magnificent leg to stand on (even two for that matter).

WHAT I SAID is that Jerruh had to plan for future renovation and maintenance of the Stadium.

Yep, that was the gist of it. But if we're being totally honest, here's how you really summed it up:

THAT is why he needes (sic) to sell the naming rights.

And here's the link to what you wrote and my response (just in case I get accused of making something up again):

http://cowboyszone.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3313319&postcount=75

Again, you have no basis and no data to back up your gloomy forecast. Plus you're not presenting the contractual agreement between Jerry and the builders - for all we know he could have a warranty that covers 10 years or 5 million people (or whichever comes first). Feel me again?

The irony is...well actually, the hypocrisy here is that you acknowledged (in bold): "since you have no idea what interest rates will be in 10-15 years". And yet you claim to know that the cost for a facelift of the building in 10 - 15 years will be 20% - And then...you count the rise of inflation and come up with a figure of $300 million? Seriously?

Let's go back to the one thing you got right here:

...you have no idea what interest rates will be in 10-15 years

Beautiful.

Now let's see how it reads in Spanish:

usted no tiene ninguna idea qué tipos de interés serán en 10-15 años

Lovely.

One more time in Mandarin:

您不知道什麼利率將是在10-15年内

Man, that's just deep. Get's ya right here, doesn't it (points to heart)?

Edit: I forgot to add that I am an Engineer, but I prefer the term "Demo guy" because you get more cool points for saying it. ;)

Mods,

Can we just move all this stupidity to a different folder? It's gone beyond the point of the ridiculous and no longer has a place here on this board. I think the off-topic zone would do nicely.

Thanks

PS: Someone send theogt a pm about the change in case he wants back in the fight again. I would do it but he's got me on ignore because I hurt his widdle feelings.;)

I hope the stadium stays like it is as long as possible. i kinda like Cowboys Stadium. It's grown on me. Plus, there is plenty of product placement inside the stadium (miller lite, ford, dr. pepper, etc etc) so they are still making money in the meantime. Granted, naming rights for this sucker...especially after the opening year that it experienced...it will be a mind boggling amount of money, so that will be good for the franchise. While the economy is still recovering, no one might be able to afford what they will surely ask for.
