I breezed through the Giants and Eagle game this week and noticed something.

Dont know if many have noticed but the past 2 weeks he has looked alot faster and actually tried a few of his old jukes he had from his rookie year. Still, he isnt as explosive as he was his rookie year but as Bill Parcells would say "when he turns his headlights on look out. Right now there on, but only on dim." I dont know what hes done dropped weight, lost some outside influences, stopped lifting heavy weights, or his foot might be feeling better but its obvious of his improvement. Even shows in his recieving. Maybe its the light workload. All the defenses are starting to wear down while Julius is still fresh. Jones is a mystery man. opinions

I think we're getting him out in space more. We seem to be running more delays, sweeps, and screens with him. I could be wrong though. I have no stats to back it up, but it sure seems that way.

I'll go out on a limb and say there is a 50/50 (or better) chance he returns.

He looks a little better.
His feet (meaning quickness) still look nothing like they did his rookie year or the Carolina game last year (or was that 2005) when everyone thought 'he was back'.
He is a mystery man to me. Although I do believe that his loss of shiftiness is is primarily related to excessive weight lifting and bulkiness. Unless Parcells still calls him every week and tells him to stay in the gap where the play was called.

Note: JJones reminds me of that Fox robot in football gear that they show after commercials..who, by the way, my 3 year old daughter calls the 'Football Monster'.

Maybe its the line? Maybe opposing Ds are focusing less on the run and more on Romo/TO/Wit softening their run D and allowing the OL tubs better match ups?

Not sure JuJo got better. Give him a hole and he will burst thru it.

I think so too...I think they are calling plays that better fit him

he's going to end up breaking a few long ones here in the next few weeks...he's been pretty close on a couple recently

Jones is looking better. It seems like he's running with more vision these days, instead of running head down to where the hole is designed to be (as Parcells apparently wanted Jones to do).

Somebody here, or maybe it was in a Breer article that was posted here, made an interesting observation about Julius Jones. It was said that Jones is the kind of running back who is a better match for a zone blocking scheme, and mentioned Denver as a very good match. It makes sense to me.

Lots of people mention that, and I can't understand for the life of me why. Heck, we've been running a zone blocking scheme in the run game since Parcells got here.

Julius is successful when there is a designed hole for the play to go to, the blocking is perfect and he can follow it. Julius has terrible vision, no patience, and atrocious decision making. He would be an absolutely terrible fit for Denver, as he doesn't have the patience to stretch a play out and pick the hole. The hole MUST be there when Julius gets the ball in his hands.

If it's not, he's just going to plow full-steam ahead into where the hole was supposed to be anyway, instead of looking for the cutback or bouncing it out. I think it is a huge error in analysis to suggest that Jones would be good in any system where he gets to pick his hole, and must show patience in doing so.

JJ is very streaky right now. The guy has been running hard all year, and had some bad luck with a few penalties calling back solid gains.

I'm sure he's frustrated with the team since they are moving away from him for Barber, but the kid still comes to play.

He isn't the rook JJ anymore, but he is still showing talent.

Need to get him more looks if possible (should have against the Giants IMO).

i wonder if all the bulking up is what slowed his foot speed down and made his "wiggle" more rigid. he used to be cat-quick, now it seems like he takes 5 little choppy steps just to get going in one direction. something is still off, but hopefully he will continue to improve as I like him as a player

I always ask super how does he explain JJs big games in 2004 and he never answers. I do think JJ over bulked in his upper body and that effected his quickness and balance. then BP got into his head about following the play no matter what. One thing you should never do with a RB is mess with his instincts-great plays come from instinctive moves.

I'd like to see him stay - personally, I think that folks on this board (and possibly Jerry as well) get too hyped on having a top 5 player at every position. If Julius does leave, I think we are going to end up with another rotation, not a true every down RB.

I do think we need to figure out a more consistent rotation -- it seemed crazy that Julius had a great first drive against NY and then didn't get another carry until late in the 2nd. Then he does the same in the 3rd quarter and again doesn't get a carry until garbage time.

I don't buy the "getting into a rhythm" thing but I do think you have to go with the hot back -- if JJ is breaking off 8 and 9 yard runs then feed him the ball a bit more.

I think that the more Cleveland wins, the better his chances of staying here.

IMO under the current system, the Cowboys are more of a passing team. They don't seem too concerned with clock management in the beginning of games, because they are daring teams to attempt to keep up with them and this is because of our improved defense. This allows our running game to be so successful later in the game. JMHO:D

I still got faith in the guy. That back I saw his rookie season was as good as we've had since Emmitt, up to and including now. IMO.
