Jordan Bulls vs Curry Warriors

Scottie Pippen had the team competitive in the years Michael was playing baseball. The idea that he is overrated is asinine.

People forget about the way Jordan played. The thing that made Jordan the greatest ever was his rounded game. Jordan never took a defensive play off. He would offensively let other players take shifts, but he would never take an offensive play off.

Yep.

If I remember right Pippen had then in the Eastern Conference finals the first (and only full year) that Jordan was retired and playing baseball.

So to think that Pippen couldn't lead the team isn't really true. The Bulls were still very good they just weren't the all time great team they'd been without the Jordan. But then there was no way they could be. Taking the greatest player in NBA history off of your team is bound to hurt your team.

Pippen says they sweep the Warriors in four games.

Funny the retroactive trash talk from one of the most overrated players of all time.

I personally disagree and I think the players across the board are better nowadays. Also think the officiating protectionist job the refs did on the Bulls allowed them to get the record whereas the Warriors have gotten no such treatment. I think these old players showing their jealousy by criticizing the Warriors is comedic and shows some serious insecurities.
I hope GS gets their 73.

Bye bye golden state. Not much to be jealous about. They won't even repeat much less three peat. Not exactly dynasty material.

Dumbest most fanboy post ever posted on this board ......... and that is saying something.

I guess because of the GS record in this watered down version of the NBA, I can see how this barely made a thread.

But come on, those Bulls teams were amazing.

Let GS win maybe 3-4 titles--and preferably at least 3 in a row--then we can begin an honest conversation.

Well... The "tone" was set in the first round. Pretty boy shooter gets roughed up hood-style. THAT really did them in.

With that said...OKC was gonna get trophy... At some point. You could see it. I think they hand lebron yet another finals loss.

Winning is winning. You still have to win the game. 73-9 is amazing. Probably should have been 75-7... Anyways...

Those Bulls teams were a machine.

Then Jordan came back and got Rodman and it was machine 2.0

Pippin was really good. But... Of those 8 years 3 - 2 - 3 ... I see him never taking team to and winning finals without Jordan. Mayyyyyybe he gets to one or two finals but no trophy.

He was a two way player and very good both ways.

Correct. People always forget about the defensive side of the game. For all the love Draymond Green gets, Pippen was a more athletic version of that, and could guard PGs.

Also, if you compare across eras, today's efficiency ratings would show that Kobe Bryant was overrated as he was very inefficient. Kobe was definitely buoyed by elite supporting casts. He was a great player, but efficiency wise, he is much closer to Tracy McGrady than he is Michael Jordan. You won't get anyone else saying this because of the five titles, but the Lakers surrounded Kobe with great role players.

Probably right. I might be a bit over sensitive since UNC lost last night.

;-)
Now that I know you are a UNC fan, football season will be fun.

And yes, I know the onsides kick penalty was a bad call.

;)

And the Warriors are the ones who get away with calls. I have never seen such one sided officiating, and I like the Warriors.

LOL... Gotcha but I have to tell you, I'm not a UNC Football fan. I'm a Horn's fan and a Lobo fan in all sports. I'm a UNC fan in Basketball only. I'm a hold over from the Dean Smith days.

Ah, okay. Well Clemson seems to give UNC good games for the most part in basketball.

  • 2002 Western Conference Finals (Lakers vs Kings, the Kings should have won that series going away, the league vs the refs wanted Kobe and Shaq, not Webber and Divac in the championship)
  • 2006 NBA Finals (Heat vs Mavericks, Wade drew fouls when Maverick players were 3 feet away from him)
The 2002 Western Conference finals was the beginning of the end of my NBA fandom. I was a HUGE NBA fan. By the time the Mavericks won the championship in 2011, I didn't watch any basketball NBA basketball. That league is basically on my blacklist due to all the corruption by the NBA league office. That league is nothing but taint.

I've been saying this for a long time. Kobe Bryant is likely the most overrated basketball player I have seen in my life. In fact, I think I posted something about this here on this forum (I could be wrong).

The NBA...and in particular, ESPN...always wants another Michael Jordan. So when Kobe came along, they tried to shove it down our throats that Kobe was better than Jordan. It was ridiculous.

What's funny about MJ was that he got this reputation of 'well, even I could score 35 points in a game if I shot the ball 40 times in a game.' I used to hear that all of the time. But so many people never understood how insanely efficient MJ was. But when guys like Kobe and Iverson came along, the fans couldn't rave about how great they were despite taking a gazillion shots a game and being terribly inefficient.

That era of Kobe/Iverson was really the worst basketball I've ever seen in the NBA. Horrid to watch.

No, he wasn't as efficient at the legend people believe. If you used advanced metrics as your basis for the discussion, Kobe was overrated. Kobe is considered by most a top 5 player of all time. But in terms of career efficiency, he isn't even top 20.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/per_career.html

Not efficient in what aspect? 3pt shooting, yes he wasn't efficient. That was his downfall. He would take too many in a game, and it would hurt his overall FG%. But all other aspetcts of the game, he was efficient.

Standard tactic, namecalling

I did not call you anything ....... you thinking the Bulls got babied by the league more that Golden State speaks for itself.

I have never seen a team as coddled as the GSW and esp Curry and Donkey

But that's the problem then. If he is a great player, he should understand that he is being horribly inefficient by taking shots that he isn't good at. Look at how efficient Dwayne Wade is most of the time. He rarely takes three point shots, because he isn't good at them. But one foot inside the line he is elite.
