Makes zero sense to me.

I can kinda see where they're coming from. Demarco is better in pass protection and catching out of the backfield. If he's in the game, we can literally do anything in our offensive playbook. I'm not so sure that's the case with Randle and Dunbar.

I have to say, in my opinion Randle's overall game has improved a lot since last year.

During his rookie season I thought every aspect of his game was average to mediocre. Now he looks fast, explosive, agile, and has very good awareness when it comes to making moves (he knows when to dance vs hitting the pile). I think at times the coaches are so satisfied with what Murray's doing that they don't want to pull him from the game- and it's hard to argue with that, but I think I'd like to see Randle get some more touches at this point. He's really earned it.

At this point, I think that WAS game will be meaningful, but if it's not, we'll finally get a heavy dose of Randle. I'd like to see it and like to see him have big game. Both for what it might mean if Murray walks, and what it might do to get him to stay with a more reasonable deal. This OL really does make a RB's job a lot more fun.

I agree with you completely on Randle last year. He looked slow and completely unremarkable. He's really worked hard and developed well this season. He's fun to watch.

I've read multiple reports indicating the team plans on riding DeMarco Murray as long as any game is in doubt.

But how can they look at what Joseph Randle does in limited work and not want to expand his role?

The Cowboys do tend to let veterans have their way.
Murray wants the ball, so they give it to him.
Witten does not want to come off the field, so they play him on 100% of the offensive snaps.
They have Hayden playing a very large number of snaps.
They let Free rush back from a broken bone even though his backup was better.
