ever heard of "creating a position"

If 0 jobs existed and 0 jobs were listed then 0 people who deserved the job were going to get the job.

That was my reaction to the article, they said during his trial that Brent was working in a warehouse doing manual labor. Josh Brent could be doing a lot of different things but its probably some kind of admin work that is more about Jerry taking care of a former player than anything that requires scouting insight from Brent.

I agree with most of the others here, this is all about Jerry taking care of one of his own - and its a good thing.

Former Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent is back with the organization.

Brent, who retired from football earlier this year, has joined the club in a scouting role. Owner/GM Jerry Jones announcedthe news during practice on Thursday.

In May, Brent was placed on the reserve/retired list. Head coach Jason Garrett visited with him before he made that final decision to step away from the game at the time.

"He's worked very hard to find some normalcy in his life," Garrett said. "I admire him in many ways."

Brent previously made a return to the league in 2014 just two years after he was involved in a fatal car crash while driving under the influence. The former Illinois product was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to six months in jail plus 10 years of probation.

I think one of the things as fans we don't really see..

is the loyalty the Jones Family has to its players.

This whole Josh Brent thing has been hard on everybody involved..

yet the team continues to support the situation beyond what most would do.

Whether you agree or not..

the humanity shown is impressive.

Thanx Jerrah.

What? I am glad somebody who deserves to work in the scouting department is gonna have to be looked over for this guy who needs to be given a job because Jerry feels sorry for his mom and the mom of the guy he killed.

I'm pretty sure there is no rooster restriction on the scouting department. Like another zoner said CREATING A POSITION is no uncommon at all.

More than likely, I see him doing quality control. Breaking down film and disseminating it to the players. Not real high level stuff.

You hit the nail on the head, you have to start somewhere. Who knows in 30 years from now he might be a GM somewhere in the league, but you gotta start somewhere.

Well, I don't see it any different than when they brought Colombo into the scouting dept. I'm not sure he even has a defined role in the org, other than working with the pro scouts. But you see Colombo everywhere, so he could be doing anything.

Except that Colombo was a good player that had a lot of respect from his teammates and showed leadership qualities. He is not a charity case who is getting all these breaks because he got drunk and killed someone.

Regardless of your opinion of Brent's character.. Like Colombo, Brent will employed in an undefined role in the scouting department. Seen occasionally and never heard.

I heard that Brent is financially trying to help out the daughter of his friend who died during the accident caused by Brent. So, I'm guessing that much of what he earns goes to her. I'm sure the mother is on board with Brent working there. Brent was very popular with all the players. He sounds like a good guy who made a terrible mistake. Those involved closest to the situation have forgiven him. Everyone is trying to make the best out of a bad situation. Can't go back in time. I don't know why some people get so bent out of shape over something that really is none of their business.
